1. Can Talaq get a Rutor's Hand even though RH says "Put this card on the acting vampire"? I would think so, since "Talaq may play cards that require basic Quietus or Thaumaturgy as a vampire with a capacity of 3." And since allies treat agg damage as normal, he just loses 1 of his 3 life, correct? 2. Same basic question as #1, except using Magic of the Smith? I would think so, for the same reason (Talaq card text). 3. Assuming #2 works, in regards to either Talaq or another Thaumaturgic vampire, can MotS 'break the rules' so to speak, and get and equip a piece of equipment that is out-of-clan, i.e. in Talaq's case, get The Ankara Citadel, for example, or another Thaumaturgic non-Gangrel get some Shackles of Enkidu? I would think so, via 1.4 in the new rulebook. 4. Does Talaq ignore the damage from Burst of Sunlight? I would think so, since it explicitly says "all vampires in combat." Besides, sun shouldn't hurt him -- a non-vampire -- should it? 5. Assuming I'm correct on all these points, doesn't that make Talaq pretty cool? I mean, use Haven Uncovereds to Theft/Drain him up to ridiculously large quantities of life quickly via Rutor's Hand actions (2 per turn), then Eldritch Glimmer for 10 or whatever you feel like. Of course, people have to "let" you do this, and we are talking about a lot of cards to do it all, so I guess Talaq isn't "cool" unless you manage to pull all this off. :) 6. Assuming #5 is true, can LSJ, et. al., give me some role-playing reason why "immortals" are so powerful, or about Talaq in particular, if he is based on an RPG character? Is Talaq in the same class as, say, one of the 20 or so mummies still in existence in the WoD? Comments welcome. Thanks LSJ, et. al. -- Kevin J. Since combat strike cards have their resolution delayed, he is an ally when it resolves. > 5. Assuming I'm correct on all these points, doesn't that make Talaq > pretty cool? You can also just throw an ally steal or an ally burn effect at him. > 6. All of the White Wolf supernatural/immortal/better than your average human type things have the ability to kick ass, Talaq just does it this way. -- James Coupe | PGP Key 0x5D623D5D "Steve: Yeah, well that's one of the advantages of being a sad, lonely fairy, I guess. Correct, so it would have no effect (other than to cost him a life for the cost of the card and another life for the damage). > > 2. Same basic question as #1, except using Magic of the Smith? Talaq is a former vampire (Assamite), whom Maimonides (yeah, that one, but he's also a magician in the WoD) turned into a slow-aging mortal with Disciplines. Talaq rules over Petra (Jordan), and is at odds with his former CVlan. This is all old RPG material which may have been retconned, though. Mathieu
