HI! I know that you can pay more than enough when playing hidden strength in order to empty a (for example) spirit marionetted vampire. But can you choose the source to be prevented? I mean, if I spirit marionette a vampire with, for example, 4 blood, and bleed with it, but i'm blocked by a vampire with a wolf companion... Can I play hidden strength paying 4, and prevent only his hand damage? To force the companion to send my controlled vampire to torpor? I suppose that in case that you chose a > 1 damage source, for example Lazverinus hands, you must prevent as much as you can from that source, so you need more than one source of damage to use the spirit marionette + hidden strength combo to send the vampire to torpor (In case that you really can prevent less than you are able to). Regards, Rodrigo.

Hidden Strength Type: Combat Requires: Fortitude Cost: X blood [for] Prevent X+1 damage. [FOR] As above, with an optional press. You can only prevent as much damage as you are taking and Hidden Strength doesn't say "Prevent up to X+1" so you can't burn 10+ blood to prevent a hand strike for one. I'm pretty sure you can prevent or not prevent damage from whatever source you want though, you just can't prevent damage that doesn't exist.

No. The strike damage and the Wolf Companion damage are simultaneous, and Soak doesn't restrict the nature of the damage prevented.

[ quoted text not captured ] When getting punched for 1, you have damage to prevent, so you can use a damage prevention effect, like Hidden Strength with X=10, to prevent it.
