Screaming Vermillian

This came up in a tournament last night (Channel 10, Columbus Ohio). Sire's Index Finger weilder is acting, nonacting minion throws some agg, plays Rotschreck hoping to end combat, not sending acting minion to torpor. Can nonacting methuselah play Rot? What happens if he does? What does IMMUNE mean? We ruled IMMUNE meant something similar to dodge, and with recent rulings of IMMUNE, anything that would happen to the character with immunity wouldn't happen. Everything else, WOULD happen (hence the ending combat). Hope that made sense... Thanks.

Rotschreck says "Put this card on a vampire...". Since the vampire with the Finger is immune to Rotschreck, you can't put the card on him. -- charles lechasseur - da...@novideospamtron.ca

So can a vampire opposing a vampire with SIF even play 'frenzy' cards? If so, they still get the press from Frenzy even though the SIF-vampire is immune to the other part of the cards effects or is it just impossible for the card to be played?

This is the question: Can a tapped prince (or justicar) play Second Tradition to untap and attemp to block a (D) action who it's not to the controler of the prince?? Ex.: Grand prey attemp to bleed 4 or 5 to his prey (the predator of the mathu), the predator attemp to block and fail, can Ulugh Begh play ST:D to untap and attemp block and then play eagly sight??? he get's the +2 to the intercept??? I say yes, and yes... but my playgroup it's not much convinced... Enrique Arzobispo de Talca

[ quoted text not captured ] Well, the answer is no and no. The block attempt must be legal for you to use 2nd Tradition. As it isn't, you then can't play Eagle's Sight. You would first need to play somekind of wake, or untap ability (that doesn't demand blocking) first, then play the Eagle's Sight, then play the 2nd Trad. -- J -- "Fry crack corn, and I don't care, Leela crack corn, I still don't care, Bender crack corn and he is great; Take that you stupid corn!" grail_pbem "at" hotmail.com to email me

No. This is explicitly answered in the FAQ, section 3.31. http://www.thelasombra.com/vtes_faq.htm >Ex.: Grand prey attemp to bleed 4 or 5 to his prey (the predator of the >mathu), the predator attemp to block and fail, can Ulugh Begh play ST:D >to untap and attemp block and then play eagly sight??? he get's the +2 >to the intercept??? Nope. >I say yes, and yes... but my playgroup it's not much convinced... You'd be wrong, and they would be right to not be convinced. 3.31 Can I use a card that requires me to block, to untap against an action that is directed at someone else? No. Cards which require a block attempt as part of their untap effect (2nd Tradition, Eternal Vigilance, Speak with Spirits, Special Report, The Mole) cannot be played if your vampires cannot block the action. If you want to block an action that is directed at someone else, you must first play an Eagle's Sight or Falcon's Eye before playing a card that untaps you and requires you to block. In other words, you would first have to play a Wake with Evening's Freshness or Forced Awakening, then play the Eagle's Sight or Falcon's Eye to gain the ability to block, then you could use the untap and block cards.

[ quoted text not captured ] Minions don't play Master cards. Frenzy cannot be played on the Fingered vampire, by the above ruling. Frenzy provides the round with a press. That press doesn't belong to either of the combatants. [ quoted text not captured ]
