Melee Weapon. Strength damage as a strike. If more than one damage is inflicted on the opposing vampire by this weapon in a given combat, then that vampire is sent to torpor. In that case, this card is transferred to him and he doesn't untap as normal during the untap phase as long as he remains in torpor. -stake/wooden stake Only usable by a vampire who can commit diablerie. Diablerize an opposing vampire instead of sending that vampire into torpor. Not usable by a vampire going into torpor. -amaranth rule 6.5.5 diablerie lists the benefits and costs of the act, including "2)the diablerist may take any equipment on the victim." with the following possibly pertinent rule clarification: * If an event both burns and torporizes a vampire, the controller decides whether the vampire will go into torpor before being burned. [RTR 19960708 so, it's probably been asked too much, but does the stake/wooden stake come back to the original user that inflicted 2+ dmg with it if amaranth is used as the stake/wooden stake is about to torporize the victim? ===== also, not saying it's that great or anything, but you COULD catatonic fear/psyche (both superior) a bunch of times against a non-maneuvering, non-IG-etal. Couldn't you? i mean it's legal to re-enter after YOU end combat, right? spinney th' foole ======= when black friday comes i'm gonna dig me a hole... donald fagen so fine, so young. [ quoted text not captured ] Yes, you get the stake back, and you can keep it if you survive the blood hunt. > ===== > also, not saying it's that great or anything, but you COULD catatonic > fear/psyche (both superior) a bunch of times against a non- maneuvering, > non-IG-etal. Correct. You get the equipment [6.5.5.2] before the victim is burned [6.5.5.3]. > > ===== > > also, [...] you COULD catatonic > > fear/psyche (both superior) a bunch of times against a non- > maneuvering, > > non-IG-etal. Is it truly lost, or just postponed until the end of combat? I see no reason for the damage to be simply lost, Catatonic Fear simply states the damage is dealt 'once combat ends', there's no requirement that the damage be dealt immediatelly. Right? Flux

It's truly lost. Just as the "action continues" effect of superior Form of Mist would be lost. [ quoted text not captured ]

In article <3a7a...@212.18.160.197>, [ quoted text not captured ] I think that its really key to the integrity of timing in VTES that effects like this resolve in the opportunity provided, or get lost altogether. Keeps the game from being a big math calculation (there's enough math in it already) and allows a more consistent general understanding. This ruling works the same as any "after combat is over" effect. What's more, if we're consistent, ALL past and future "after combat is over" effects that are supressed (by Psyche, TelTrack, etc.) will work in the same fashion. Here's hoping for consistency... -- Regards, R. David Zopf Atom Weaver [ quoted text not captured ]

Well, if the stake is 'about' to torporize the victim, you can't play Amaranth yet. You can't play Amaranth until the victim is torporized, by card text. So the victim has already met the conditions to acquire the Stake by the time you can play Amaranth. Hence, by the time Amaranth hits the table, the diablerized minion is in possession of equipment, and by the rules, the diablerist gets to take that equipment if he wants. >also, not saying it's that great or anything, but you COULD catatonic >fear/psyche (both superior) a bunch of times against a non-maneuvering, >non-IG-etal. Telepathic Tracking/Catatonic Fear/Riposte is a tiny bit more card-efficient, but more blood-intensive. Neither are particularly killer. But legal all the way. gomi -- Individually, I love you all with affection unspeakable; but, collectively, I look upon you with a disgust that amounts to absolute detestation.
