LSJ (VtES Rep)

FYI: The August issue of the Duelist includes an article by Wolfgang Baur (author of the Sabbat rulesheet) on an optional rules-set for Sabbat-Camarilla games. The rules-set is called "Crusade!", and increases the frequency of combat and diablerie between the sects. -- L. [ quoted text not captured ] When are they finally going to include all of their rulings in the duelist. It's been a long time since errata and rulings have been made official to the public (outside of netdom).

In article <33CD04...@lmco.com>, Quicksilver <michae...@lmco.com> writes [ quoted text not captured ] I'm betting that you'd need to take up a *huge* amount of the magazine with them (my latest copies - which aren't *the* latest copies - take up about 14 side of A4 with carriage returns (bloody netscape)) which WotC probably aren't willing to do - kind of understandable given that Jyhad has as much popularity in it's entire body as Magic does in it's little finger (even though I would say that it is tactically a better game - the swings and roundabouts of getting vampires out/killing yourself being one example). However, it would be useful because when playing against people with little or no access to the internet you get a lot more credibility when you can reach out a copy of Duelist. when you reach out a file of papers, it doesn't have the same authenticity because you could have added bits yourself (people notice Tippex (correcting fluid) and biro on a copy of Duelist). Just something slightly off the point - any chance of getting Wizards to do a special issue of Duelist with information on all the other Wizards games ie Netrunner, Jyhad, Battletech. It would be good if it had, say, ten pages on each - a couple of pages as a primer (ie basic terms, bits on how to play), a couple of pages on tactics (diplomacy, when to play cards, hand jam (and keeping people's hands jammed), when to block etc.) and a couple of pages of official errata from WotC. I mean, reeading Duelist occassionally as I do, they do seem to have to pad it out to fill out a proper magazine. Just doing a special would probably mean that they could keep some articles aside which could be put into another issue stopping it look padded out. If a proper few pages were set aside each issue for these games, I reckon Duelist would get a much better readership (say, a double page for each of the other games (say, tactics, errata, news etc) and then a double page 'deck clinic' which could cycle through each game on a three issue cycle (ie a deck clinic for Jyhad this issue, Netrunner next issue, Battletech next issue). Giving these games better coverage helps in two ways. It helps the fans because it means that they know Wizards haven't given up on them and so, secondly, it helps Wizards. If Wizards said tomorrow, "We're printing no more Vampire cards" I'd be hesitant to buy any more, but giving them coverage in the Duelist (even a little, *proper* coverage (personally, I haven't read the article by Wolfgang Baur but from the sounds of things it beefs up combat which isn't necessarily a good thing (beefing up combat does nothing for bleed, intercept or political decks) and if its as complete a load of bollocks as that rules supplement that came with the Sabbat boosters, Wizards shouldn't waste the ink) would do) actively endorses them and probably helps Wizards attract new people to them. I've met loads of Magic who've said, "Jyhad - what?" If they knew more about it, they might buy a couple of decks. The Magic bubble will burst one day (not that that's a good thing and not that I want it, but it will happen). When it does, if Magic is the major source of income, then they are probably going to be in deep shit. By their own admission, TSR is run on a shoe string and the Encyclopedia Magica (for instance) lost money so AD&D won't earn them loads, presumably nor will the Five Rings compnay they just bought. If they have varied card games with a good level of support (ie Netrunner, Battletech, Jyhad) then they will come out of it better? Anyone care to comment. LSJ? Any chance of getting Wizards to do proper stuff on the other games (obv. esp. Jyhad)? -- James Coupe (note spam proof e-mail address) The owls are not what they seem.

The less you support a game, the less people will take notice of it. But then, its not me you have to convince. Unhelpfully, James B.
