First of all, if you play Reindoctrination, it does not change the sect of the target Gargoyle. That is, if Ian Forestal played Reindoctrinatin on Ferox, Ferox would become an Independent Tremere Antitribu Slave. Is this Correct? (Looks like it is, from card text) But what would happen if Ferox was then Merged? His Advanced version is not a slave (obviously). But does this "undo" Reindoctrination's slave status? (Again, I assume that he would continue to be a Slave, since no card text contradicts it, but I am just making sure)

Of course you could also have an Independent Tremere Antitribu Slave if Pugfar went Anarch. > But what would happen if Ferox was then Merged? > His Advanced version is not a slave (obviously). On a similar note, if Ferox had received any other trait (Black Hand, Infernal, Red List, Sterile, etc.), merging him would not "undo" that either.

The Advanced/Merged text takes precedence over conflicting base text. But there's no conflict here. -- That is my story, be it bitter or be it sweet. Keep a little and let a little come back to me.
