Somebody pointed out the other day that Obedience never actually mentions that combat is avoided, and lo and behold, it's true! Theoretically, by the wording on the card, people just untap then have at it like regular combat. Also, if this is the case, what happens in the cases of Cat's Guidance and Kiss of Ra? If Obedience prevents combat, perhaps Cat's Guidance does, too. Also, at the regular level of KoR, is combat avoided or does it continue as scheduled? Should there be errata for these cases? VtES card text: Obedience - Dominate - Reaction Only usable when this reacting vampire is about to enter combat with an acting younger vampire. Instead of entering combat, this vampire remains untapped; untap the acting vampire. The acting vampire is blocked, and he or she cannot attempt the same action this turn. As above, but do not untap the acting vampire. "Instead of entering combat" > Also, if this is the case, what happens in the cases of Cat's Guidance > and Kiss of Ra? Hmm. Scratch that. Tom Wylie ruled (1996/06/04) that combat doesn't occur after Kiss of Ra. Which seems to be at odds with the ruling (1997/04/25) that (if the acting vampire was leaving torpor) the would-be blocker can still exercise his option to diablerize the acting vampire. I think the former ruling is th right one, since Kiss of Ra is played "when a vampire ... attempts to block" (i.e., before the block is successful). Then Kiss of Ra itself blocks the action (not the blocking vampire). So, combat should not occur and diablerie should not be an option for the blocking vampire when the acting vampire is acting fomr torpor. (*) [ quoted text not captured ]

It is currently akin to (inferior) Cat's Guidance. Errata is required to turn it back into the V:tES use. I'll send this to the RT. [ quoted text not captured ]
