I have an odd question regarding giving information about a card in
your hand. If you are playing in a game and someone who has either
seen your deck or has heard about your deck asks you a specific
question about a specific complicated card that your deck uses, are
you obligated to give accurate information about the card in question
even if it will reveal that you have the card in your hand?
For Example:
Meth A is playing a Kiasyd deck that uses The Grandest Trick. Meth B,
the prey, asks a specific question regarding the card text of The
Grandest Trick. Meth A does not have any Grandest Tricks in their
ashheap and the available list of cards doesn't have the card text for
The Grandest Trick. Not wanting to reveal that they have a Grandest
Trick in hand, what are Methuselah A's choices?
* Methuselah A offers to search their library for the card to give the
correct card text and reshuffle after. If Meth B refuses, then too
bad for Meth B if their assumptions about the card are incorrect? or
if Meth B refuses:
* Meth A is obligated to give accurate card text, so she looks down
and reads the card text from the one in hand?
In the situation that occurred, Meth A offered to search her Library
for the card, Meth B refused. The card was looked up, but the list of
cards that was available had not been updated. Meth A, without even
glancing at her cards, then said "Well, if i recall correctly, the
card does XYZ". The game goes on and when Meth A played the card,
there was a slight error in what she had originally stated and Meth B
got mad saying that she had intentionally mis-represented the card.
So what would the proper course of action have been?
