Weird Situation last night. Fast Reaction to enter combat with a vampire that has just been sent to torpor through combat with my other minion I noticed that since it doesn't have the text that Psyche does, it may be possible. I tried it and we flipped to decide that it allows diabolry. Now it may be played, as far as I know, because it just says to enter combat with the minion that your minion has recently completed combat with. Now Psyche has specific statements to the effect that it cannot be used except by ready minions, so would Fast Reaction in this situation enter combat? would combat end immediately since the vampire is in torpor? and would this give the oppourtunity to Diab. as other cards do when going to combat with a vamp in torpor. The whole instead of entering combat the blocking minion has the oppourtunity for diab thing was what got me started on this idea and I'd really like to know if it works. Just some ideas Stu -- "Earth Alliance may have problems, but they can't be solved by trampling on human dignity." -- Sinclair, "Eyes"

The official stance on entering combat w/ vampires in torpor is, sadly, not based on the precedence set by "leave torpor", "Rapid Healing", and "Movement of the Slow Body". Thankfully, a "combat cannot occur with a torpor'ed vamp" rule has been smartly errataed into the rules - the effect of which is to ignore any such combat effect (cf. Brujah Frenzy on a torpored Brujah taking one of the afore-mentioned action from torpor - the card may be played and all effects happen except the combat - the action is blocked and the victim minion is tapped. So, if precedence manages to hold this time, Fast Reaction is playable, but will have no effect except tapping the reacting vampire. (it's only other effect - combat - is impossible). -- ----- L. If someone tries to Fast Reaction when the opposing minion has gone into torpor, the Fast Reaction does not start a combat, correct. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

Of course you didn't say that the reacting vampire does not have the chance to commit diablerie. They better not have the option, it should be obvious that they cannot. Just because the restrictions worded in psyche are not present in fast reaction doesn't necessarily mean that the restrictions don't exist. The card says enters combat, not enters combat or the chance to commit diablerie, the only way combat and diablerie are linked in any way is Amaranth, if you want to diablerize a vamp during a reaction torpor them and then play Amaranth. ~Biomechanoid
