The Lasombra

All those who have VTES websites, I have a website up, http://legbiter.tripod.com and I keep getting complaints that the links are broken. I clear my IE history, reboot (so that the site is not cached locally), go to the site, and all of the links work perfectly. Others tell me the links don't work. What else can I do to check these pages? Help!! Thanks. Carpe Noctem. Lasombra http://members.tripod.com/~Lasombra Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I don't think that there *is* anything else that you can do to check the links. If they don't work for someone else, it could be their browser, it could be the hops they have to take to get to the site, it could be UUNET or another backbone, it could be anything. But one thing it is not is the site. All the links are fine. Sorrow --- "Are they dead?" - Pugsly "Does it matter?" - Wednesday

All the links are fine. Fine for IE, maybe. Most of the links I see include backslashes "\" instead of slashes "/". This is probably the problem. While some browsers cover certain HTML errors (by substituting a slash for the backslash in this case), some do not. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. The backslashes are definitely the problem. I heard a rather disturbing story to the effect that IE will not only fix backslashes in links, but make them appear as slashes not only in the links but in the page source itself when viewed, so that the problem becomes completely invisible and unrepairable to anybody using IE. I don't know if this is actually true, but it's worth a try -- you might want to get some small freeware browser and check your page out (assuming you don't want to get Netscape). -- William Burke, passenge...@hotmail.com HTH. I have updated the site to use forward slashes instead of backslashes, and they still work for me. Hopefully this will take care of the other peoples problems. Thanks again. Carpe Noctem.
