Questions that have been accumulating: 1) Combat cards don't have the same one-per-action restrictions that action modifiers and reaction cards do, eh? So, in theory, Anvil could end up with 7 hand damage with 3 Undead Strengths?? Hmmm. I've never seen this happen, but maybe I'm just lucky. :) I'm mean, how high can one go?? 2) Are sleeves allowed at tournaments? It would seem that sleeves would resolve problems concerning the card backs. 3) When a vampire diablerizes another, does s/he first gain the blood and *then* gain the discipline card, or vice versa? 4) When I checked out Lucita on the WW Web page, it said she was a Camarilla and a Lasombra. This is, of course, not the case in V:TES. Presumably something has happened in the World of Darkness that is not reflected in V:TES? Well, Undead Strength is a strike card. He'd have to Blur to play the next two. But he could play Fists of Death 3 times and gain 7 hand damage that way. Expensive, si? =) >2) Are sleeves allowed at tournaments? It would seem that sleeves >would resolve problems concerning the card backs. Yes, and sleeves are 100% annoying to play with. DCI sat themselves firmly on the fence on that issue; they specify a ratio (60/40%), they allow for sleeves to be used, then allow for someone to force you to remove the sleeves... Silly. It IS possible to design a deck that makes use of the different backs (all bleed is Jyhad, all stealth is V:TES), but I can't really see that it would give an *excessive* advantage. Easier just to design the deck right, ya know? (This isn't really comparable to Tusk's ability, since Tusk's information is MUCH more specific.) >3) When a vampire diablerizes another, does s/he first gain the blood >and *then* gain the discipline card, or vice versa? Gain blood on munched vamp as direct result of the completed action. Search for discipline card as BONUS result after the completed action. Burn to ashes in bloodhunt called after all that. (well, that's usually how it goes in our mob. =) -- Derek Deafness never kept composers from hearing the music. It only stopped them hearing the distractions.

Easier just to design the deck right, ya know? The current DCI rules do not rely on specific ratios - and they prohibit the types of splits (bleed/stealth) that you describe. [DCI 702]: If Jyhad cards are used, in order to prevent a significant advantage, all library cards from the Jyhad or Vampire: The Eternal Struggle card sets must be of sufficiently mixed card type--that is, Master cards must appear with both Jyhad and V:TES card backs (or at least three different card types must have Jyhad backs). > >3) When a vampire diablerizes another, does s/he first gain the blood > >and *then* gain the discipline card, or vice versa? > > Gain blood on munched vamp as direct result of the completed action. > Search for discipline card as BONUS result after the completed action. > Burn to ashes in bloodhunt called after all that. (Technically the discipline is gained as part of the completed action, but the Bloodhunt is called after the completed action as you say). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. In theory he could have tons of hand damage with some help, but he can only use one strike card per strike. In the above scenerio he would strike with undead strength for a total of 3 hand damage. > 2) Are sleeves allowed at tournaments? What problem with card backs? > 3) When a vampire diablerizes another, does s/he first gain the blood > and *then* gain the discipline card, or vice versa? she gains the blood first, then elects to get a skill card, and finally is burnt or lives if a bloodhunt is called. > 4) When I checked out Lucita on the WW Web page, it said she was a > Camarilla and a Lasombra. This is, of course, not the case in V:TES. > Presumably something has happened in the World of Darkness that is not > reflected in V:TES? I don't recall a vampire in V:TES with the name Lucita. There are a few with names similar: Luccia Paciola - Venture Lucretia, Cess Queen - Nosferatu A vampire could easily be a Lasombra and a camarilla vampire via a Writ of Acceptance. Just like the Camarilla clans have antitribu in the Sabbat, the Lasombra have a few antitribu in the Camarilla. Basic story: Pre Camarilla/Sabbat. There is an anarchist uprising due to the power the elders wield over their childer. Lasombra had two childer, Gratiano and Montano. Gratiano joined the anarchs. Montano defended the castle where Lasombra lay in torpor. Gratiano and the anarchs attacked, and with knowledge that Gratiano had, the anarchs were able to overrun the castle and slay Lasombra. The surviving Lasombra were told to join the anarchs or die. Montano and a few other Lasombra managed to escape. Montano joined the Camarilla with his cohort, while the anarchs eventually became the Sabbat. Some independents and Tzimisce are in the Camarilla as well, but only a handful, apparently. And according to the game, all the Giovanni present are merely spies for the family. The website also has a book which is downloadable for free in pdf format. It was called 'Children of the Inquisition'. It has the stories of Gratiano and Montano, Lambach, Vasantasena, Etrius, Dominique, and even Vlad Tepes (who is a Tzimicse). It is in the downloads section. It is probably a pretty huge file, as the book is 70 pages long. Some fantastic artwork too.

That some are different from others, thus screwing up the reason they make identical cardbacks for cards in these kinds of games in the first place. Fred

What was said about Lasombra Antitribu was correct. Lucita was sired by Cardinal/Archbishop Moncada, one of the most important leaders of the Sabbat. So she was originally Sabbat. But she had some "disagreements" with them, and sort of left the Sabbat. For awhile at least, she hooked up with Montano and the Lasombra anti's in the Camarilla, and she still does occasional missions for the Cam (can you say assassination?). But her sect affiliation has always been a rather tenacious issue. I would consider her Independent with Camarilla leanings and some Sabbat ties, but it's up to you. I just hope they don't use Lucita as the promo card and just label her as Sabbat Lasombra. I don't think they should introduce her until they introduce the Lasombra Antitribu (if ever). There are indeed several Lasombra Antitribu in the Camarilla, but they mostly keep hidden (since who would trust a Lasombra?). And most of them are high generation as well. A kind of good example is Marcus Vitel, former Prince of Washington D.C. To be honest, he was neither Sabbat nor Camarilla. He ruled a Camarilla city, but had Sabbat ties, as well as a pet Sabbat pack doing the dirty work for him. He posed as Ventrue -- he had a tie clasp thingy that gave him a reflection and his additional levels of Obfuscate mystically concealed his lineage. There are also a few Tzimisce Antitribu, but they are MUCH scarcer, as the Tremere generally don't like them! Halcyan 2

Originally, she wasn't anything, because the Sabbat didn't exist yet.

Just as an FYI to anyone who plays the RPG but hasn't read the novels as yet (like me) - Lucita is mentioned in at least one of the "flavor text illustrated pages" that seperates the chapters in the V:TM 3rd Edition rulebooks.
