A question came up today during a game. Masika, with 4 blood and an Palatial Estate, was banished back to the uncontrolled. Several players contended that the Palatial Estate should still work, while I contended the opposite, as Masika was considered uncontrolled, and therefore the equipment on him shouldn´t work at all. So, should the Palatial Estate give Masika blood during the untap phase, although he is uncontrolled, or shouldn´t it? Magnus

[ quoted text not captured ] it does not give him blood : the palatial estate is in the uncontrolled region and its effect is suspended until the vampires returns in the controller region. Same stuff for blood doll or the rack : they have no effect since the vampire is out of the controlled region.

[ quoted text not captured ] addendum (since this example can be misleading) : note that the rack is still in the controlled region and can be stolen as normal, but it does not give blood to the targetted vampire.

[ quoted text not captured ] Shouldn't. 1) Palatial Estate is equipment, and so is put on Masika. When Masika moves to the uncontrolled region, the Palatial Estate does to, putting it out of play. So it doesn't work, can't be arsoned, doesn't count for contesting, etc. 2) That aside, cards can only affect other cards in play without explicit card text. So even if Palatial Estate would stay in play for some reason, it still wouldn't affect Masika, as it lacks any card text saying it can affect uncontrolled vampires. See also: The Rack, which does stay in play, but ceases to have an effect if its vampire leaves the controlled region. --Colin McGuigan

[ quoted text not captured ] An easier effect that mirrors the same thing happening is if Masika has the Palacial Estate and then becomes contested. He wouldn't gain the blood either. -- Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr XZealot Archon of the Swamp
