I noticed something odd about four of the vampires in Dark Sovereigns. They seem to be stepping away from their core skills in unison. I understand that occasional random skills work their way into the mix, but these seem a little oddly linked, especially for the superior skills. Perhaps the 'Dominate' and the "Presence" keys are too close together on the Vampire keyboard? :-) Brujah - celerity, potence, and presence Constanza has superior celerity, potence, and dominate, but no presence Donal is the same way. Meanwhile... Tremere - auspex, dominate, and thaumaturgy Javier has superior auspex and thaumaturgy, normal presence and others, but no dominate (the only 9-capacity lacking one of his clan's basic skills) Rebekka has superior auspex, presence, and thaumaturgy, but no dominate. I'm sure this does not cross the errata-threshhold, but could you check to see if it was intentional? -- L. Also there are a couple of others. Daliyah with superior protean (Nosferatue) and I seem to remember a Toreador that was odd (besides the one who had chimestry) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [ quoted text not captured ]

Anyone with dominate and innate +1 stealth would be too unbalancing. That could lead to +2 stealth, +4 bleed or +3 stealth +2 bleed which is something the Tremere, a combat clan, doesn't need to be competitive.

No, the designers of DS simply decided to step away from the these-three-skills paradigm a little, and threw in a few vampires that specialized in non-clan skills. >Brujah - celerity, potence, and presence > Constanza has superior celerity, potence, and dominate, but no presence > Donal is the same way. Miranda Sanova isn't quite as good, but she has that +1 intercept vs. Brujah thing. Nil carborundum illigitimi, James R. McClure Jr. The OS/2 Apostle <insert disclaimer here>

Miranda Sanova isn't quite as good, but she has that +1 intercept >vs. Brujah thing. Miranda is a decent bleeder, especially with the amount of Cel/Obf vampires out there now. Donal is a *wonderful* vampire; Constanza, Donal, Anvil, and Don Cruez all have Dominate, and are an important part of a Brujah bleed and bash deck. They also give Brujah an oppurtunity to bounce bleeds if blocking fails. I find that some of my best deck ideas appear when I try and find uses for "useless" vampires (I haven't found one yet...) Same effect with "useless" cards. But - > >Have you actually found Uriah Winter useful? I have decks that can >tolerate him, but none that find him useful. Sure! Two decks: 1. Weenie Vote: due to the low pool expenditure required and Autarkis Persecution, it's usually fairly easy to keep more pool than your prey. Don't forget Political Flux! The advantage of an extra Caitiff offsets the potential loss. I wouldn't advise bringing him out if your predator has a bleed deck, though :-) 2. Weenie Damage Prevention (basically full of F, Pre, Prot, Cel, Dodge S:CE, damage prevention): Same thing with the low pool expenditure, and you bleed *fast* with this kind of deck (unless your predator is playing bruise and bleed). Mr. Ghazban has Fortitude. The other main advantage Uriah gives is a larger number of non-duplicate vampires under 4, essential for these kinds of decks. Getting your whole crypt out is not uncommon. Plus, he won't be contested :-) TJH

Donal has a built in camarilla examplary and is a definate Giovanni/Brujah crossover vampire. +1 intercept vs. your own clan isn't worth anything. Around here no one plays the same clan to avoid contesting and the ally deck only has token brujah. As for Tura Vaughn, I'd rather pay one more and get +1 hand damage and an optional dodge or pay 3 more and get +3 votes and +2 bleed. Bianca costs 2 less and has +1 hand damage, Rake and Volker are princes, Anvil has sup pot and cel for 2 less. Black Cat costs 3 less and has a useful power. Ideally you could get a vampire with all 3 clan at superior for cost 6 like Ravnos, unforunately only one other Ravnos has all 3 clan at superior. Is there some role-playing game reason there are no 7 cost brujah? Did they all die or something?

Ya just gotta love this in a potence celerity deck with Thoughts Betrayed thown in. The other vampire just sits there while you beat the crap out of em! Brian.

I use Uriah to so those hazardous day operations.
