Are master cards such as Ascendence, Minion Tap, Game of Malkav, etc.
considered "one shot" cards or do they remain in the game? To put it in
Magic(tm) terms, do they work like instants or like enchantments? I really
need an official answer on this one as it affects gameplay tremendously.

Peace Mitch,
The three Master cards that you listed are "instants." Master card like
Short Term Investment and Blood Doll are "enchantments."

All masters which do not say "Play on a ..." or "Bring <this card> into play",
and which are not Locations (since Locations are covered in the rulebook
as being brought into play) are the Jyhad equivalent of instants.
They do not stick around, and wouldn't make sense if they did, usually.
(Minion tap would "make sense", but would be horribly unbalancing).

All such cards are one-shot.
