Which Equipment (Loquipment) is handled first for calculating the cost of a combat card? Example: Muaziz with Eye of Hazimel and Citadel of Ankara plays a card that normally costs 2 blood. Does she have to burn 1 or 0 blood for it?

It just allows the vampire to pay half the cost. Another important thing to remember is that some cards change the cost (including Eye of Hazimel) while other cards (like Paths) only affect how much blood is burned. In this case, Muaziz would pay (2 - 1) / 2 = 0 blood. A helpful explanation is in this old post: From: LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) Subject: Re: Pander Problems View: Complete Thread (6 articles) Original Format Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad Date: 2002-06-07 09:59:20 PST Brian wrote: > > Problem 1: > Rex, the Necronomist has acquired control of the Ankara Citadel. Some effects change the cost of the card, other change how much blood one burns. Rex: combat cards cost an additional blood AC,T: [Rex] pays half the blood cost tPoM: [Rex] burns one less blood TF: [Rex] burns an additional blood So the cost is increased by one (Rex). The Chiropteran Maurader's cost is therefore 1. Breath of the Dragon's cost is 2. Rex pays half the cost (AC,T) and burns one less (tPoM) and one additional blood (TF) when doing so. CM: [1/2] - 1 + 1 = 0 - 1 + 1 = 0 BotD: [2/2] - 1 + 1 = 1 - 1 + 1 = 1 > Problem 2: > Does Mitchell, The Headhunter's special increase the rescue action's > blood requirement from 2 to 3, or does it mean that anyone rescuing > him must burn 1 blood for the rescue action, and then the normal 2 > blood from any combination of the two? It increases the cost of the rescue from torpor action (card text). The cost is normally 2. Increasing it by one would make it 3. The cost of the rescue can be paid all by Mitchell or all by the rescuer or any combination. [6.5.3] > Further, if Doris McMillon plays Sense Vitality on him, is it a rescue > action? In the above example, it makes no odds since it is always 0: reduce cost from 2 blood to 1 from the eye and half 1 (rounding down) to 0. OR Half cost of 2 to 1 using the citadel and reduce cost by one with the eye. A beter example would be if Muaziz got protean and tried to kick of a Body of Sun (howls of derisive laughter!). But even then, I still reckon you get to order it as you like. While we're on the subject, am I right in thinking cards like Chiropteran Marauder still cost blood to use (the superior) even with the eye, as it doesn't cost to actually play the card? I guessing so. DH

[ quoted text not captured ] Thanks Halcyan So, there seems to be a difference in paying one less and burning one less blood. Does Meshenka have to burn a blood for Chirop. Marauder at Sup? guess yes. Does Dragos have to? guess no (i remember his card text as not having to _burn_ blood for combat cards. Do Tzimisce have to burn a blood for it if a path is in play?

It is not burned "for" (i.e., in order to play, i.e., as the cost of) the card. > Do Tzimisce have to burn a blood for it if a path is in play? Yes. [ quoted text not captured ]

I guessing so. It seems obvious to me that you have to. the eye reduces the cost oto play the card while the "pays one blood" is in the card text NOT a cost to play the card. /Fredrik Visit Umeå V:tES Deck Archive at http://130.239.144.58/~fredde/
