Succubus club and contested locations

Legbiter

This came up in the post-tournament game. It is Steve's untap. He has the succubus club. Lunar and Legbiter are contesting the Labyrinth. Legbiter offers to give Steve his copy of the contested card until Steve's next untap. The idea is for Legbiter to avoid losing one pool. The advantage to Steve is that he puts extra hurt on his prey Lunar, and by essentially compelling her to yield the location, he helps his ally Legbiter to hurt his predator Rob. After much discussion we accepted John Eagle's ruling that this is illegal. Our reasoning was that while cards are contested, NO-ONE controls them, and if one does not control a card, it may not be traded. Were we right?

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes. Contested Cards are out of play except for being contested, and cannot be affected by anything else (except explicit card text, of course, like Praxis: Solomon). -- L.
