The animalism is a requirement for playing the Raven Spy. Beast however has prohibitions against doing certain things (equipping, employing retainers, etc.) so such cards cannot be put one him (unless they are normally put on a minion by some means that doesn't require Beast to do something he is prohibited from doing: like Zip Gun and Charnas). The difference here (as in Mask1K) is the difference between a requirement (animalism for Raven Spy) and a restriction. Yes, it's odd and confusing, but it's the best I can do for now. -- L.
