LSJ: unblackable actions, can you attempt to block those and fail?

I am sure this question is asked before but i coudnt find an answer so quick. Suppose you cannot block an action (strange day/ seduction on your only minion). Can you still attempt to block with 2nd tradition, but fail, leaving yourself untapped for playing reactions? W
