there is a difference between the old text of the card and the new one
in the old text it was clear that steal blood you could use it after the first strike
but in new text of the card but now can you use it as the first strike of the round?
I don't find anything in the rules that says otherwise.

[VIC] As above, with an optional press, only usable to continue combat, and once each round for the remainder of combat, this vampire may strike to steal two blood at close or long range.
New: [Vicissitude]
Strike: strength+1 ranged damage. If this striking minion takes 4 or more damage this combat, they go to torpor.
[Superior Vicissitude]
As above, with 1 optional press, only usable to continue combat, and once each round this combat, this vampire can strike, ranged: steal 2 blood or life (becoming blood).

Both texts are equivalent.
The card is a strike (strength+1 damage) with an additional effect for the whole combat.

So the first strike is always the effect of the basic discipline of the card , after first strike vampire can use the effect of superior vicissitudine: steal blood.

Hello,
Yes this card is a strike card.
So first of all, you anounce your strike (hand damage +1 Range Damage in this case) and then you get the extra effect if the other minion does not dodge it. (EDIT: Thanks Vincent)

Dodge does nothing against the extra effects, since they have no effect on "the dodging minion and their possessions".
