Round system:
3 rounds and finals (time limit 2 hrs each).
Format: VEKN Constructed (Constructed)
In case of less than 12 players participating, the multi-deck system will be used.
Proxies: The use of proxies is allowed.
Furthermore, for the Grand Prix tournament series: The five top ranked players from the series face off in the final held the same weekend as the European Championship. Each Grand Prix winner is also automatically qualified for Day 2 at the European Championship.
Entry fee: 20€
The 20€ entry fee will cover various costs, including prize support, location etc. We ask that drinks and snacks are purchased from the location itself to support them.
In addition, there is an absolute ban on alcohol. The tournament management reserves the right to exclude alcoholized participants from the event.
The number of participants is limited to 45 persons. An early registration is advantageous. Pre-registrations gladly by email to me

Dear Methuselahs,
because now the inquiry was directed increasingly to me whether the use of Proxies will be permitted, I would like to answer this now in arrangement with the national coordinator of Germany:
The use of proxies will be allowed at the Grand Prix Germany, which will take place on September 17, 2023! However, it is important that the corresponding regulation for the use of proxies is observed, as it is set out in the tournament rules. There it says:
"4.5. Proxy Cards
As long as the game is not under production, the organizer of an event that is neither a National Championship nor a Continental Championship can choose to allow proxy cards in his or her event. For events where proxy cards are allowed, several points apply:
there are no limit to the number of proxy cards a deck can have
every proxy card must be a color-copy of the original card, on standard paper
the quality of the print must allow the reading of the illustrator's name
the organizer must mark the event as 'allowing proxy cards' on the VEKN calendar"
Proxy-cards must be inserted in an opaque sleeve (along the rest of the crypt and/or library), before a regular VTES card.
Otherwise, the use of proxy cards is not permitted, unless a judge provides these cards. If a card becomes excessively worn through play or accidentally damaged in the current sanctioned tournament, or if the owner of the card must leave prior to the conclusion of a game, the judge may provide a proxy replacement card or (in the case of damaged or worn cards) require the player to sleeve all of his or her cards before play continues.
When a judge creates a proxy for a player, it is included in the player's deck. The original card is kept close at hand during the game, if possible. When the proxy is in play, replace it with the original. When it returns to the player's deck/hand, swap it with the proxy. This replacement method helps ensure that the opponent is able to clearly see the intended card and to avoid confusion.
The term "proxy" includes counterfeit cards or any card that is not a genuine game card. Counterfeiters will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Who is unsure about the use of proxies, can and should talk to me in advance, so that we can check together whether the corresponding proxies meet the requirements. If this is not the case, the corresponding proxies have to be removed from the deck. This can also lead to the deck not being able to be used or participate in the tournament.

I guess they went for a fully literal reading of the rule: "the organizer of an event that is neither a National Championship nor a Continental Championship can choose to allow proxy cards".
I am of the impression - although I can be wrong - that this rule was written in an era when the Grand Prix did not exist. And by extension/analogy, like you, I always assumed that a Grand Prix was of a higher nature than a National Championship (hence I did not allow proxies in the Belgian GP), but if you are a lawyer then...

There would have been time enough to change the paragraph 4.5 accordingly, but this did not happen.
I asked again via e-mail to be on the safe side, and after receiving an okay I left the drcision to the organiser's discretion.
Since there have already been requests for the use of proxies he decided to allow them.

I was of the same conviction. After I received some inquiries whether proxies were allowed, I had checked the situation together with our NC Rudolf. As a result, Rudolf had also contacted Black Chantry, who confirmed that proxies were allowed at a Grand Prix. Based on this, I have made the decision that proxies will be allowed.

Update 02.5.1 - Grand Prix Germany 2023 Prize Support - V:TES Regarding Boosters Lords of the Night and The Black Hand
Dear Methuselahs,
in agreement with Rudolf and Hugh (Black Chantry Productions) the still closed boosters will be saved for future draft events. In our eyes this is the right step, because not least the Grand Prix in Belgium showed that the community is very interested in draft events. Thus, any booster that is still closed and is draftable should be saved.
Instead, we will offer custom boosters. These boosters will contain cards of the new New Blood starter. Instead of drawing cards from the booster that may not be usable, all Methuselahs can rely on drawing cards from their custom boosters that may eventually see game use.

Update 03 - Custom Edges for the first place winner and the second place winners
Dear Methuselahs,
as the saying goes: Honor to whom honor is due! Accordingly, the first-place winner will receive a custom edge, which reveals the triumph of the Grand Prix winner through its clear inscription! The four runners-up will also receive a custom edge certifying their participation in the final. While second place receives a silver Edge, the winner's Edge is in gold.
The Edge was self-designed and then 3D printed. The finalists thus receive a souvenir that will not be available again. So it is worthwhile to be determined to compete in the Grand Prix.

Two days ago Black Chantry Productions dropped the bombshell: For the first German Grand Prix there will be the first two promo vampires in German! The joy on our part couldn't be bigger! One more reason to register for the Grand Prix Germany in Essen! Because only those who take part in the Grand Prix on 17.09.2023 will get the corresponding promos.

Didn't get a chance to participate in the VTES Grand Prix Circuit in 2019 and win one of the special playmats? No problem! On 09/17/2023, you'll get another chance to win a copy of the four playmats pictured. These playmats are to go to Methuselahs who do not yet own a copy of this very playmat. Yes, this means that we are counting on the honesty of the Methuselahs concerned. We all remember wanting to head to the Grand Prix Germany in 2020; what ultimately stopped us was a small virus that forced the world to come to a near standstill for many more days and months. But hey, it's 2023 and you have a chance to score a copy of the GP Germany 2020 promo on Sept. 17, 2023. What makes this version of the ever-popular Charisma card stand out is the small GP logo that can be seen in the upper right corner.

Update 09 - Custom Booster
Our National Coordinator has really worked hard before the final day and created the promised and long announced Custom Booster. It's best to let the creator of the custom boosters himself have his say:
"Behind the fixed cards that each participant receives are randomly distributed cards from a card pool formed by 2x each of "NB: Banu Haqim", "NB: Brujah", "NB: Gangrel", "NB: Ministry" and "Echoes of Gehenna", as well as 1x "Shadows of Berlin", according to rarities that are deemed useful, but of course fictional.
For example, one "Card Slot" was formed from the Library Cards of the "EoG" and "SoB" editions, another from the Vampires of the "New Blood" decks, etc."
So look forward to well-designed custom boosters that every Methuselah who participates in the Grand Prix Germany in Essen on Sept. 17, 2023 will receive.

Hello folks,
Tension is rising, just three more days until the first German Grand-Prix will take place. Time for two late announcements:
First of all, there are still 6 free spots. However, make sure have have pre-registered before you hit the road!
Preferably do that here on vekn.net (www.vekn.net/forum/europe/80401-17-09-2023-grand-prix-germany-2023-essen-nrw); announcements on FB are rather hard to keep track of.
Second, (at least) the final table will be streamed by Jennifer Fuss via her Twitch Channel: www.twitch.tv/wodnews
And even though he will have a busy weekend celebrating his birthday, Lionel Panhaleux will try to comment the finals on his channel. Of course, anyone else is invited to do so as well.
It is tough business to predicts the starting time of the finals. It will probably no earlier than 19:00 CEST and hopefully no later than 20:00 CEST. We will try to recruit some reporters who will keep you on track.
