I'm wondering about the interaction between Mirror Walk and the slave rule. If an action is blocked with a Mirror Walk played can the acting minion's methuselah use the slave rule to untap the acting minion and have a gargoyle start a combat with the blocking minion? I'd argue no because the action ends at the time the action is blocked. I'd argue yes because (in some cases) you're allowed to choose the order in which to resolve your own effects (end action vs. slave rule in this case). Which one is correct and why? Thanks in advance. Slave: Some minions are identified as slaves to a specified clan. A slave cannot take a directed action if his controller doesnt control a ready member of the specified clan. Also, if a member of the specified clan controlled by the same Methuselah is blocked, the controller can tap the slave to cancel the combat and to untap the acting vampire and have the slave enter combat with the blocking minion instead. Mirror Walk [Third:C, KoT:C] Cardtype: Action Modifier Discipline: Thaumaturgy Do not replace until your discard phase. [tha] +1 stealth. [THA] As [tha] above, and if this action is blocked, the action ends (with no combat). Adam Esbjörnsson, Prince of Örebro

If the acting vampire isn't entering combat, the Slave can't step in for him.

I got a similar question concerning the Slave rule and Stone travel. 1) Is the same true for stone travel? (since there is not "end action" text) 2) Is it possible for the salve to use the "choose to cancel the resultning combat"? Stone Travel Type: Action Modifier Requires: Mytherceria/Obtenebration [obt] This vampire burns 1 blood to get +1 stealth. [myt] +1 stealth. [MYT] +1 stealth. If this action is blocked, this acting vampire may choose to cancel the resulting combat. Isak Esbjörnsson Bjärmark

Well Stone Travel gives you option to cancel the combat, you don't -have- to cancel it like you do for Mirror Walk.

So, if the Stone Traveler chooses to cancel combat, he cannot trigger the Slave Rule. If he chooses not to cancel the resulting combat and has a ready Slave that meets the requirements, the player can use the Slave Rule. Right, mr. Floppy? EDIT: I started writing this before there where answers

Your vampire playing sup' Stone Travel can still play sup' Freak Drive or Momentary Delay. The blocking minion can play Cats' Guidance. If you cancel the resulting combat, you can't invoke the Slave rule. If you invoke the Slave rule, the generated combat isn't the combat resulting of the block, so you can't choose to cancel it. So, with sup' Stone Travel, it's one of - have resulting combat - cancel resulting combat - invoke the Slave rule and then, unless the action somehow continues (Momentary Delay, mostly, I guess), the end of the action is reached for good.

Is this a reversal of the ruling here groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/52231ead130f0cd1 > GreySeer wrote: > > Does this mean that there doesn't have to be a combat for a Gargoyle to tap > > and enter combat with the blocking minion, there just has to be a blocking > > minion ( and the appropriate acting minion )? > > Yes. > > -- > LSJ () V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. > Links to revised rulebook, rulings, errata, and tournament rules: > www.white-wolf.com/vtes/ > Edit: Context of the above is if the vampire is taking the 'Leave Torpor' action.

For some reason I had the idea that canceling the combat resulting from a block would end the action. I was wrong. Now I know better. Thanks!

This ruling stands, but I'm not sure this one (question #4) should.

The effect is applied but there is no actual state change, so Vampiric Disease doesn't trigger and the Gargoyle gets in to combat. As for question #4, I don't see any contradiction. The acting vampire doesn't cancel the combat that isn't coming, the blocking vampire gets to diablerize as normal.

Pascal Bertrand

The contradiction is with this ruling (explicitely written in the Rulings page): Blood Brother Ambush: Blood Brother Ambush can be used by a BrujahAnti taking an action while in torpor. If this happens, the blocker loses the opportunity to commit diablerie. [RTR 20010710]

I will update its cardtext to have it read "Combat (if any) does not occur."
