Next Expansion Set?

Is there any clue what the next expansion set is? Has Black Chantry dropped any hints? I was wondering if we would get a 'Modern Nights' set. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

I want Lost Kindred part 2. When Lost Kindred start to be created they said that they would not have enough images and artists to make a big expansion at a time and that they would split in two. The second part should come with Baali, Daughters, Salubri and other bloodline clans. But I guess the next expasion will be Camarilla focused in Vampire 5th edition. Only thing I recall hearing is the actual Starter/Beginner Box aimed as starting point for a group interested in the game. I want more Imbued. One or two Imbued related cards in every release. Finnish Politics!

They were working on an "Anarch Essentials" set of precons, which I think were originally pegged to come out before the Sabbat ones. Presumably that will be next.

If I were part of BCP, I'd make the Cam box set the top priority, to turn the recent excitement over VTES being back in print into an actual VTES "breakout", meaning getting the game popular again and bringing in lots of new players. I'll bet that's what White wolf cares about the most also, which definitely matters. But I'm sure it's a huge endeavor, so if it's going to take a while still, maybe release an Anarch reprint bundle in the meantime to keep the momentum going. But I definitely think the next true expansion should be a Lost Kindred 2, as Fernando suggested, since that set was just too small, and aside from maybe getting Harbingers into the tournament winning scene (nerf Emerald Legionairres, anyone?), the other 4 clans still need plenty of help to get there.

I had thought there were rumours swirling of a boxed set based on V5, or a V5 tie-in. The mentions of an Anarch tookit also seems familiar to me.

However, After the "incident " with editing resulting in faster than intended restructuring at Paradox, it would be quite safe to assume Black Chantry wants to remain as tied to relevant new material as is practical, and seems likely that some important details will roll out in the new Chicago book, and later. So, since Cam and Anarch are the important V5 sects, its logical that they want to perfect a balance and integrate V5 into the Cam and Anarch stuff planned. As far as speculation, the metaplot of V5 provides growth needed in all 3 sects, and leaves the "Hectate" as a semi unknown variable. Let's not forget that IF that stagnated, we have bloodlines, new v20era laibon extra details, and the drowned legacies on the edge of relevant (far off edge). With BC focusing on quality, I would anticipate the other obvious stuff to be in the pipeline as well (pdf sets made real) that honestly lack the impact of the sect kits, but given supply/demand levels, feel practical at any point where theres a gap in releases. That keeps us fed on new stuff to buy, and they can surprise us again like with LK. Just ideas though. I anticipate Drowned Legacies expansion announcement sometime around 4-1-19.........

I'd be in favor of Camarilla starters. The disciplines carry over to Sabbat, so new players with a few starters can begin to form new decks or switch out crypt cards. Clan essentials would be great. Cam could work like this: -Brujah vote featuring Dmitra and Co, parity shift, 2nd trad, etc. (works with !Tor, also has Camarilla utility cards) -Toreador guns wall (works with Tzim or !Tor) -Tremere toolbox (magic of the smith, anyone?) -Gangrel swarm (animalism crosses over with Tzim) if 5: -Ventrue vote (can cross over with some Lasombra cards) Laibon could work, too, given discipline crossovers. Camarilla requires fewer new cards and supplies a lot of what I consider essential cards in the game, though. I get that a part of selling these decks is representing strong archetypes within the game, but... What about the flavor of the decks? --Why do sexy, beautiful, fashionable, alluring vampires resort to getting into gun fights? I would much rather see an Aching Beauty style deck with an emphasis on political actions and cards that reference them as artistes, seductive lovers, the center of attention, etc. (Virtuosa, True Love's Face, Heart of the City, Social Charm, Bewitching Oration, Entrancement, Crocodile's Tongue, Majesty, etc.) --Maybe the Ventrue could be a swarmy Political Ally deck with lots of The Summonings and other retainers like J.S. Simmons, Tasha Morgan, Mr. Winthrop, etc. --Why do the Gangrel - the vampire that's basically a werewolf - resort to throwing Bats and Rats and Crows at their opponents? Plus, the majority of Gangrel left the Camarilla, right? So maybe this could be a Nosferatu slot? Nosferatu have Animalism too, so their would be that cross with the Tzimisce for new players, but of all the decks listed, they would be the only ones with any real stealth. Ideally, the deck they're in would make use of all three of their clan disciplines, instead of just relying on Animalism for combat and Obfuscate for getting into combat. --I'm OK with the Brujah voting and the Tremere toolbox, but I really think that the Camarilla set should have a strong emphasis on political actions and the political machinations of those clans. All the decks should have some titles, some political actions, some reactions for the politics, and other ways to control the votes. Stuff like Kindred Coercion, Telepathic Vote Counting, Scalpel Tongue, and vampires like Kataline Nadasdy and Tyler McGill (Toreador), Slag and Benjamin Rose (Nosferatu), Johannes Castelien and Mustafa, the Heir (Ventrue), etc. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

Toreador (bleed/vote), Ventrue grinder or ally deck using a new non-unique bleed/combat ally, Tremere (bruise/bleed or intercept combat), Nosferatu (combat rush animalism/potence), and Malkavian (bleed/toolbox). Something like that...

> LivesByProxy wrote: > What about the flavor of the decks? > I'm guessing that most of current players care more about power level and efficacy than flavor and other considerations (note the proliferation of mixed clan decks as an example). I would posit that this is a result of VTES never doing a perfect job of conveying theme (where are all of the mortal retainers for Camarilla vampires, who specialize in manipulating mortals?). But personally, I love this idea. Theme-first is how I prefer to play. Although I suppose summoning up Tutu the Doubly Evil One and buying him a camera phone (the premise of my last tournament deck) might not be all that thematic.... As a side note, Aching Beauty and Zephyr could make for an interesting combo.... Hell, gun nuts could even throw those in to punish blockers before untapping. Question on New cards. Would you rather see a new archetype for some of the Camarilla clans or see an existing archetype strength? I feel like some clans have a wealth of deck options and others are very niche cases. IMHO, Ventrue needs a new deck archetype. Not that politics are bad, but they need some diversity. Also, I would make the case that Nosferatu need more deck options. Other the hand, Toreador and Malkavian are swimming in deck options but some are clearly stronger than others. Tremere are weird. Mostly because I don't know how people would like them to work. On paper they potential more options that any of the others I listed above. They can do a gear deck using Magic of the Smith, have an ally deck option, intercept wall, Bleed/Bruise, and even politics aren't a stretch with some of the best high capacity (and efficient) votes in the game. Thoughts?

I've always felt that Nosferatu should have better access to politics tham they do. One could draw inspiration from the classic archetype of the Nosferatu information broker to help fulfill this sort of thing.

LivesByProxy

@kschaefer: I've often wondered this very thing. Why do vamps need a formal title to have a say in politics? Why do they even need to be considered 'titled'? Why don't we see passive '+1 vote' specials on vampire cards the same way we see '+1 strength'? Having political influence doesn't necessarily mean you hold a title. @Jblacey, @SelfBiased: Nosferatu need more effects like Army of Rats, Victim of Habit, Inside Dirt, etc. Ways to burn pool that aren't bleeding or politics. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

Becoming Ventrue Justicar will not cause Mithras to lose those votes in favor of the new title and a Sabbat Mithras could not play Under Siege. You could say they've dipped their toes in that water (with a similar special), but they haven't really committed to X votes titles for non-Independents.

Nossies just don't have a unique strategy, or very much unique cards to fiddle around with for that matter. Just planting Dominate or extra votes on them won't cut it either, since then it's just another OBF DOM variant anyways. But I'm sure everyone agrees here. I'm not sure why you guys are obsessed with non-titular titles or votes on vampires. What does it matter if a vampire has 1 vote and is Camarilla, or if they're Primogen? I guess you could do more 3 vote Camarilla vampires, but that could be done with specials anyways (like Ellison Humbolt, who is basically 1 or 5 votes depending on the table). Anyways, I'd actually really want to see new stuff being introduced to clans instead of reinforcing existing strategies. As said, Ventrue already do the voting. They have 3 different royalty groups, all of which do the same thing slightly differently. It's fine. Now let's see an ally deck for them, or an actual Investment deck. Nosferatu and Brujah really need something very specific to help them. We already know BCP has the ability to bring up clans from never-seen to super-viable with the introduction of Emerald Legionnaire. Brujah mid-cap crypts and Nosferatu: you gotta get your place in the spotlight. Gangrel already got sweet, sweet love. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! @Kraus: > > We already know BCP has the ability to bring up clans from never-seen to super-viable with the introduction of Emerald Legionnaire. > Some would say that was a design oversight - that the success of EL was unintentional. I agree that the Nos and Brujah need something interesting and unique to them, and something I've noticed about this game: There seem to be very few triggered effects from permanents in play. Like, I don't see many or any effects that trigger off doing stuff that they want to be doing. I guess Warsaw Station counts as an example, but why is that card a Nos specific card? I find it strange that the game has the concept of Locations but it is so minor and downplayed. Why aren't Methuselah's actively fighting over control of said Locations? (And before someone mentions The Rack, Montreal, or Museum Atlanta, let me mention that that's only 3 Locations out of ~150.) And most of the Locations only have a specific effect for members of a particular clan, so stealing them is pointless - you'd be better off burning them. IDK, it seems weird to me that in the eternal struggle for control over kine and kindred, and avenging our ancient grudges, we have little or no desire to intrude on each others territories. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

@Lonkka: Even the best of us make mistakes. I believe it was intended to be useful and strong, and not another wall-paper ally. That said, I think it is too good. It could cost 2 pool and it would still see tons of play. Black Chantry basically printed us a new deck archetype, and that's something that should be avoided IMO. Archetypes should be created by players discovering and realizing cool combos and interesting deck builds or crypt composition. Hell, show me any clan that would not benefit from a 1 cost ally non-unique ally with 1 strength, 1 bleed, and no special. Legionnaires are even better than that - they even give Nocturn a run for its money. Meanwhile, the !Nos' Courier silently weeps, and Brujah / !Brujah mortal gang allies commit collective suicide. I'd say that any good non unique ally can be an archetype. Not as good as legionnaires probably, but the new card smell will wear off. Especially when new toys show up. Speaking of, Maybe similar design space gets touched on in next few sets?
