Name: Democritus ADV Cardtype: Vampire Clan: Ventrue Group: 1 Capacity: 10 Discipline: AUS CEL FOR DOM PRE Camarilla Ventrue Justicar: [MERGED] Democritus may search your library for a unique card and put that card in play as a +1 stealth action. Democritus may only do this if that card would contest a card that is already in play.

Kinda cool (almost all of group 1 and several parts of AH&DS just need better discipline levels). I feel like flavor wise with the base you're on to something. Maybe: As a +1 stealth action that costs 1 pool Democritus may move a card from you ash heap into play facedown, and Choose a unique Library card in play conttolled bh another Methuselah. The first card becomes a copy of the second card. Burn the first card if the second card is yielded.

I like the OP's version better. The second one is just an uncomfortably wordy way to say: burn a unique library card in play. One of the disciplines should go back to inferior: other justicars have only 4 superior disciplines.

I would skip the "and put that card into play" part. Keep it simple. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

Superior sets him apart from all other justicars, as only the torries and brujah Justicars have it. is whatever, as he has for bounce and second trad to block, but can still use it for small intercept if needed.

Once this gets printed, just make doubly sure that the art has as massive and majestic a jaw as the original. Democritus aches for an advanced form, for sure. Ankha's suggestion makes for the best suggestion yet. The effect isn't exactly powerful though, so you might want to give an extra unlock for the effect, or remove the effect from 'merged' status and just let the advanced version have it. You'll get an extra bleed when merged. Merge for an extra bleed or something? "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! Keep the justicar curse! Sabbat.Black Hand Shakar: Lech loathe ranged weapons. Once each action, he may burn 1 blood to become Camarilla Prince of Krakow until the end of the action.

@Kraus, @Ankha: If the effect needs to be more powerful, why not let Democritus' action put the unique card into play? Is putting it into play really more complicated than moving it to your hand? My suggestion (Ankha + OP's): Democritus can search your library for a copy of a unique card in play, reveal it, and put it into play as a +1 stealth action (this will cause that card to become contested; you cannot contest cards with yourself). Although ReverendRevolver is touching on the idea of putting cards into play as a copy of another card, which is a worthwhile design space, should be explored. The idea of a political deck that forces contests to tax its prey's pool is a cool one IMO. Edit: I also like Lech's suggestion of keeping the Justicar curse, hahaha. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

Limiting it to putting the card into your hand means it would only function with cards that you could normally play. Allowing cards to be put directly into play could lead to some bizarre effects; potentially you could get a free Remnant or Gurchon Hall, or all sorts of cards you couldn't normally play.

The easy solution would be to just 'attach them on Democritus'. Good luck with that Fame or Pentex. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! Once each your turn, search your library for unique card sharing a name with one controlled by another meth, and attach to Democritus. You may play it as from hand if he is ready. Sabbat.Black Hand Shakar: Lech loathe ranged weapons. Once each action, he may burn 1 blood to become Camarilla Prince of Krakow until the end of the action.

LivesByProxy

If someone wants to include cards they can't normally play like Remnant or Gurchon Hall, on the off chance they could contest it using Democritus' special ability, I say more power to them. With unique cards that are played 'on a minion', wouldn't Democritus' special necessarily follow the required targeting restrictions? Or, what Kraus hints at, ignore the targeting restrictions? So it could read: Democritus can search your library for a copy of a unique card in play, reveal it, and put it into play as a +1 stealth action, ignoring targeting restrictions. Gangrel. Noddist. Camarilla. Once each turn, LivesByProxy may burn 1 blood to lose Protean until the end of the turn and gain your choice of superior Auspex , Obfuscate , or Potence for the current action.

I like the OP best. Make his base special extra meaningful. Justicar curse is good as a joke, but bad card design. Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one. -Friedrich Nietzsche brandonsantacruz.blogspot.com/

What is exactly bad in discipline spread ? Tell me. If i understand correctly, it would allow playing him in Brujah, Toreador and Ventrue decks (while keeping justicar curse meme). Group 1 is not consistent with spreads, but G3 has a consistent theme (10 cap justicars get SUP SUP SUP bas bas (bas) where all superiors are in clan. The 8 cap, 9 cap, and Xavier break the rule. Xavier breaks the rule because he has 5 dots in children of the night, but there was no when AE was printed. I threw that up to Ben when TU was being tested, and it got us the best justicar the Gangrel have, so hes allowed to break theme. G5 takes it further with spreads, by giving SUP SUP SUP SUP bas (bas) and even plopping the 4 superiors on a 9 cap. Due to lack of support in clan for his spread, Unmada (my favorite malk jusicar) is the worst in cycle, followed by Montecalm, who's incredibly playable but didn't get a second basic, even tho Petradon gets too with multiact and for toolup. Gabrielle isn't great, but good. What I'm getting at is the justicar curse isn't consistent, but as far as justicar spreads go, more modern ones get 4 superiors and the world isn't ending. The biggest reason to make Into is lack of stealth discipline that make superior freak drive so helpful. Also, they REALLY skimped on for G1 justicars, out of some kind of design concern.

Lets be frank: if the ability was "put in play", you would get Ankara citadel or soul gem and have a turbo-democritus. *rolls eyes*. Sorry to rain on your parade. I understand that the original idea was innocent (get something to contest with opponent) but your mind is not dirty enough. This is why we can't have fun things.. ps. Ok, if thats what you want.... This is my version I've had kicking around for a long while. Democritus 1 Clan: Ventrue Capacity: 10 Camarilla. Justicar. AUS DOM FOR PRE CEL pot May place the top card of your ash heap into play face down to contest any non-vampire card or title as a +1 Stealth action that costs 2 blood. Remove both cards from the game if Democritus wins. ADV: Democritus may pay the cost in blood for any cards you are contesting. +1 Bleed. +1 Hand Damage. ----So yes, he can contest ANY minion card, not just a unique card. He is basically out to cause pain and chaos, because if he wins you don't gain anything, but denying your opponent whatever was contested and their pool lost.----
