Hi Ke, thank you for the update. One troubleshooting question: for months now, when I try to print a deck I have got an "Access not permitted" modal dialog. What can I do? Emiliano "Sans Terre" - Wandering Player - Prince of Brussels

I tried with a computer (firefox) and android (chrome), with same results. The site is down, is it? Btw congratulations on 2.0; Amaranth is my favorite VtES tool alongside Secret Library (former for card search and tools, the latter for deck building and latest texts). Unfortunately the DNS provider messed up the renewal of the domain. Hopefully this will be resolved in a day or two. Sods law — the absolute worse timing. Amaranth Deck Building Tool : VTES NZ : VTES ANZ Facebook

Exporting Advanced Vampires does not work. Amaranth does not put the (advanced) suffix after them, haven't noticed at first

Really nice tool and I appreciate all the work so far. For some reason I can no longer import a deck from secretlibrary. It worked for me before but now I always get the error: Unable to extract cards. So far I tried - logging out and back in - emptied browser cash - Firefox and Chrome. Any hint on that? <INSERT CLEVER QUOTATION HERE>

Nevermind. Works again for me. <INSERT CLEVER QUOTATION HERE>

Just curious, is the new style card layout considered tournament legal, assuming proxies are allowed? From what I understand, the name of the artist needs to be legible, but I have a hard time making it out when printed.

Kraus

I'm pretty sure the Amaranth layout is not tournament legal, but is more of an experiment. It is by not means supported officially. Neverthless, the layout is pretty good, and the peeps behind Amaranth are looking for feedback all the time. It's a work in progress. Personally I would much prefer the oval approach to crypt cards. The Amaranth's present look is very 'boxy', even though it is a step in the right direction from a year ago. Also, it could be worthwhile (at some point) to make different layouts to non-minion cards (namely masters and events) to further differentiate them from the rest of the layouts. But first and foremost I'd tinker with the vampire layouts (I just love the ovality) to make them more distinct from library cards and reflect the original layout more. That would make the A layout more approachable to older players. But that' just me of course. Overall Amaranth is the best VtES tool at the moment, I feel. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! Suggestion: At least on FIREFOX, in card search I cannot double click the my text in search function to highlight it for quick delete. This slows down my deck building when I want to include cards I know I need by name. Actually, I'd want the search box to empty itself at click. It would be even faster. For searches where you need more cards, similar but different name, you'll probably use the sliders and the such anyways. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! A couple of feature requests: - Please allow multi-sort. I'd like to be able to sort by group, then by cap ascending, etc. - For text export, can you order or have the option to order the vampires by cap or by quantity? Then name for tie-breakers. - For online and text export, can you include titles for vampires. For online, immediately after the disciplines (or right-justified on that line), for text after disciplines and before clan. - For online and text export, can we group all "actions" together: Action, Ally, Equipment, Retainer, PA before action modifiers? - A +1 on Kraus's request to clear the search box on click (or tap). Thanks.

Cat_in_Exile

Well, if this is a good place to give suggestions... For the test draw feature, I'd love to be able to simulate increased handsize from cards like Dreams of the Sphinx or Visit From The Capuchin, and then reduce handsize again after. I frequently use test draw for several turns to test deck flow, and this would be a really nice feature to have. I'd also like to be able to click on a card to read it in the test draw feature also, just like it does in the main deck list.

I noticed the crypt card layouts have changed. Definitely for the better! "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! He's a complete bastard, and calling him that insults bastards everywhere!" -Nalia De-Arnise garourimgazette.wordpress.com/ www.vekn.net/forum-guidelines

> Kraus wrote: > I noticed the crypt card layouts have changed. Definitely for the better! > Yeah, happy with the end results there. The crypt cards have lacked the same polish that the library cards have had for a while now — had a window to revisit the crypt cards and did so. There will be updates released to Amaranth soon; addressing a lot of issues mentioned here (reset password, clear search boxes etc) and support for Storylines. Hopefully that will drop in the next week or two. Amaranth Deck Building Tool : VTES NZ : VTES ANZ Facebook

awesome work Ke. the crypt ovals really look awesome. looks like they fix some of the 'extended background' weirdness that was on some of the cards (like lorrie dunsirn)

Kraus

Another utility suggestion: I'd love for the search options tab (that one with three dots) to close with a hot key, say, Esc. (Using Firefox on latest Windows.) "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! He's a complete bastard, and calling him that insults bastards everywhere!" -Nalia De-Arnise garourimgazette.wordpress.com/ www.vekn.net/forum-guidelines

Kraus

A bit of a layout idea: I'm really enjoying what you did with the oval layout to differentiate it from library and bring it closer to what VtES has been doing for ages. I would show a bit more picture, and a bit less skin (har) by widening the oval a bit. Furthermore, I would do something about the overlap on discipline bar. One idea would be to 'break' the oval layout, as if chipped away. The marble discipline bar would emerge underneath. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! He's a complete bastard, and calling him that insults bastards everywhere!" -Nalia De-Arnise garourimgazette.wordpress.com/ www.vekn.net/forum-guidelines

narpassword

I think the issue with above is that widening the oval window means you have to get more 'picture' from somewhere. a lot of cards dont have that extra picture and ke did some wizardry to create some background. problem appears when some cards art (specifically the edge of the head) is right on the edge of that oval. eg carlotta giovani and lorrie dunsirn used to be rather...awkward. (carlotta improves now, but is still a little jank) The breakaway from clan colour to marble discipline area sounds cool though.

self biased

I have mixed feelings about this. we have several overlapping layers, but the sense of depth seems like something from M.C. Escher. Why not just make the oval bigger and keep the original orientation, and keep the clan background underneath? Also, the corners at the top are rounded and appear to be square at the bottom, and while a minor detail in the grand scheme of things, I can't unsee it now and it bothers me. I like the name box being just above the text box, though.

Lönkka

The two marble bars look... just odd What is the point of that annoying red lines that is all over the place? To distract? Finnish Politics!

Thanks for the update. Why is there a no-cache on the image downloads? For old cards that seems like something that could have infinite caching. For the new ones, I'd guess a week? How often are you actually updating your design?

Ke.

The length of time images are cached is device dependent. Bundling the images with the app is not feasible; compressed the images sit at 3.7GB. Amaranth Deck Building Tool : VTES NZ : VTES ANZ Facebook

Another feature request when you have time: Sort Decks by Most/Least Recently Updated I often start a deck idea and come back to it later. It'd make those old, but recently touched decks easier to find.

The quick start decks are a great idea, and mostly serve as an excellent introductory tool. But WHY does the Nosferatu royalty breed deck (already a not-so-powerful deck) have an absolute offender of a card, namely Secret Horde? Shouldn't those two copies be another copy of Warsaw Station, and a Direct Intervention instead? Or basically any card besides Secret Horde? Also, is "Horde" in there a typo? I never understood the flavor of it - should it say "Hoard" instead? "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! He's a complete bastard, and calling him that insults bastards everywhere!" -Nalia De-Arnise garourimgazette.wordpress.com/ www.vekn.net/forum-guidelines

> Kraus wrote: > Also, is "Horde" in there a typo? I never understood the flavor of it - should it say "Hoard" instead? > That's not a typo, but you bring up a very interesting point. Horde is an anthropological term meaning a small social group akin to a tribe. A hoard is a secret fund. I see your point because (1) I'm not sure how a "Secret Horde" can be an investment, and (2) the art sure seems to indicate a secret stash like a hoard. Here's what I believe happened with this card: the designers intended this card to reflect a "Secret Horde," with an effect akin to a Methuselah negotiating resources from his ancient social group. But the artist had "Hoard" in mind, and made the artwork accordingly to show a secret stash of things, or understood that "horde" was meant but wasn't sure how to depict this to match the effect on the card, and therefore designed a secret stash of anthropological looking things like skulls, texts, and ancient chemicals. To further confuse things, the keyword "investment" was added to Camarilla edition. So today, we have a card with artwork showing a stash of stuff with the word "investment." So it certainly looks like hoard was meant. But I really think "Horde" was meant because a hoard is already secret, so "Secret Hoard" would be redundant ("secret secret fund"). But who knows?

Ke.

> Kraus wrote: > But WHY does the Nosferatu royalty breed deck (already a not-so-powerful deck) have an absolute offender of a card, namely Secret Horde? Shouldn't those two copies be another copy of Warsaw Station, and a Direct Intervention instead? > Sure, some of the decks could be improved. Most are user submitted and providing they meet below the criteria below then they're approved: Decks should be close to 60 cards in size (less to print) Decks should focus on one or two mechanics only Cards should be fairly simple and not contain walls of text Include deck description and rough overview on how to play A lot of decks submitted aren't even legal — some with 100+ cards, invalid grouping, 20 crypt cards etc... the list goes on. I was torn about having it curated or not initially; however over time and seeing what's been submitted I think it was the right call. One thing I would like to expand on in Amaranth is the social side of things. For example there's an experimental feature that allows multiple people to work on the same deck/s — that is pretty cool. I think public feedback on the quick start decks would also be useful. Amaranth now has over 1000 registered users (whoot!) so it would be great to build on that further. The Lost Kindred has been on Amaranth for probably six month or so — but the cards were / are only accessible if you were / are part of the play test group. Camaraderie has a different text than the one it had on the reveal article. Is this correct? Is this an upadted version of the card, or an outdated one? EDIT: The same happened with Inevitability of the Void.

There's a small glitch importing from secret library; Crypt cards aren't making it over to Amaranth. The trend has been crypts with base and adv versions aren't importing adv or both. Also Beatrice Tremble' in an otherwise vamp crypt didn't show up. Also random midcaps in 3 decks didn't make it. But obviously this isn't too crazy to work around, only problem I've found.

Yomyael

A small glitch I noticed while constructing a Gargoyle Deck: when filtering Library Cards for cards requiring Tremere, cards like Defender of the Haven (that require either Tremere or !Tremere) do not show up. Also, would it be possible to add to the "print some" feature not only a toggle option to print all copies of a given card, but to choose how many of those cards should be printed? Prince of Bonn, Germany

ReverendRevolver

Same thing with Ennoias theatre, but the search glitch mattered to me less than the import one.

Hyllan

The last month I haven't been able to print old style cards with Amaranth, only the Amaranth's own style format. It won't generate the PDF if I choose the old layout option. Anyone else having this problem?

kschaefer

Yes. All of the old card JPEGs are 404ing. Wonder if this was done to meet Dark Pack compliance?

Kraus

Oh, wow, new vampire templates for Amaranth! I'm liking these way, way more than the previous ones. The oval frame gives the vampires regality and a nice old school touch. Love it. huh.I must confess that I'm not a fan of the tilted oval. the shape of the inner frame makes the whole asymmetry of the card even more unbalanced for me, and looks super awkward to me. I really like the name being over the text box, but overall, i think a more straightforward design would be better. I'm working on something now

self biased

I seriously super love a lot of the clan backgrounds he did for Amaranth, so I took his gorgeous Toreador background and simplified the design to be a little less awkward and busy. like so: I also did a slightly darker and less saturated version:

ReverendRevolver

I like the first one better; harkens back to when Gangrel were green, Torries were pink, and malks had recently spilled blood in someone's shower.....

Lech

Why people insist on using green bars all over the place ? It's neither pretty nor functional. I'm not a fan of tilted oval frames either, the simple designs were way better than current. Sabbat.Black Hand Shakar: Lech loathe ranged weapons. Once each action, he may burn 1 blood to become Camarilla Prince of Krakow until the end of the action.

Kraus

There is (still) one major drawback in the user friendliness of Amaranth: At least on the latest Firefox (61.0.1 (64-bit)) I can't double click the search field's text to highlight it. I have to hit backspace to clear it for a new search. This slows down deck building quite a bit. I'd actually rather the field blanked itself with just one click, but whatever's fine. You'll even get a little clear button: Amaranth targets webkit specifically as it's also the engine used for the app versions. Firefox has about 5% of the browser market, so while I'll try to ensure it works I'm not going to invest too much time focusing on it. Amaranth Deck Building Tool : VTES NZ : VTES ANZ Facebook

Hey! I'm hoping you're still accepting feedback. I would find it highly helpful to set a tag or something to 'not for legal play' or 'story line' cards, so that they would NOT show up in Amaranth's regular search. For example, when I'd search for Nephandus, at Neph* it also lists "Call of the Nephandi", a story line card, not for legal play. This makes the searches confusing. It's great that you have story line cards in there as well, but I'd love them to be in a separate search. Any opinion on this, @Ke.? "Oh, to the Hades with the manners!
