So, somehow I got to thinking about Gargoyles and bleeding. I was thinking about Gargoyles aiding each other in some sort of flying thing and so... Aerial Assault Squad Requires flight Action Bleed. When this action is announced, burn a blood from up to two younger, untapped minions with Flight you control. For each blood counter burned, choose (separately) whether to give this action +1 bleed or +1 stealth, even if not yet needed. Art notes: three Gargoyles in a triangle formation, flying over an expensive looking building, such as a city tower block. Potentially, it could combo with something like Hatchling, but also just having some minions with flight. To get to +2 bleed, or +1 stealth/+1 bleed, or +2 stealth, it costs 2 blood from other minions. +1 stealth/+1 bleed is comparable with Dominate Kine, and here you have the flexibility to go either way, and the Gargoyles don't have a super arsenal of pool destruction like Dominate does, so it feels like in the right ballpark, maybe. The bit about younger minions is a covert way to make it a poor choice for a heavy Tupdog deck - they can't use it amongst themselves. Why burn a blood and not tap? I started off trying to come up with something I was happy with where you could tap some other flying vampires in order to get benefits, but the cost of tapping them is quite high - why not just bleed with them separately? So I couldn't come up with a benefit that I thought was worth tapping two or three vampires (the actor and assistants) that wasn't utterly horrible.

The requirement (2 untapped, younger, minions with Flight for optimal use), the cost (2 blood for optimal use) to get what? +2 bleed? +1 bleed and +1 stealth? When the action is declared? Any bleed action modifier is better than that, even in Chimerstry which isn't a bleed discipline. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

why not just make it an action modifier? Requires Flight . Only usable by an untapped, younger Vampire that is not the acting minion. Select up to three two other minions that can play this card. Each of these minions may burn one blood to give the acting minion either +1 Stealth or +1 Bleed for the duration of the current action.

Hmm. Flight Plans Unique. Put this card in play, once each action another minion with flight can burn one blood to give the acting minion +1 stealth or +1 bleed. -1 Strength

Aerial assault squad requires flying +1 stealth. bleed. If you control at least another ready minion with flying, this acting minion gets +1 bleed. If you control at least three ready minion with flying, this acting may pay one blood to untap at the end of the action (successful or not)

I think when I drafted a version that had the vampires tap, it was choose and tap when the action was successful or something like that, but I lost that somewhere along the way in the burn a blood rewrite. I'm less enamoured with: > snegiem wrote: > Aerial assault squad > requires flying > +1 stealth. > bleed. If you control at least another ready minion with flying, this acting minion gets +1 bleed. If you control at least three ready minion with flying, this acting may pay one blood to untap at the end of the action (successful or not) > Because it potentially works with Tupdogs for +1 stealth +1 bleed in one card, which I'm trying to avoid. This version + untap + hunt + As The Crow + built-in rush would be quite annoying, potentially. Toss in Skin of the Chameleon to get up to +3 stealth, which is out of range of Second Tradition, and I'm feeling a bit icky. This one: > GreyB wrote: > Flight Plans > Unique. Put this card in play, once each action another minion with flight can burn one blood to give the acting minion +1 stealth or +1 bleed. > I quite like except that it hits one of my gripes with it being unique - harder to make use of, because you can't put many in the deck easily. By using the blood, it does make it a fraction harder to use significantly with Tupdogs though. You can potentially use it, but it does then have the potential to interfere with the rest of your turn a bit - possibly less so if the Tupdog burning the blood has already 'finished' what it was doing (so it's tapped) but still has blood, because it prevented damage in combat, or Tasted, or something. > self wrote: > Requires Flight . Each of these minions may burn one blood to give the acting minion either +1 Stealth or +1 Bleed for the duration of the current action. > Thematically, an action modifier just feels wrong to me for the card in my head, given that you can play it (for example) long after blocks are declined - which seems a bit weird for an assault squad. It might be possible to whip this version into shape, but the theme would benefit from a reasonable amount of kicking around.
