First version of the deck had Regents but it comes out that you can't play it on Dracula. This version has kduva mask instead, less masters and some other small tweaks. Political toolbox with Vlad Tepes as a main star. He votes, blocks, bleeds and fights. It's probably to much but can't decide which parts are the weakest and could be dropped to make it more streamlined. What is your opinion? Vlad is independent, I don't think you can play regent on him ???

Ankha

Vlad can play Regent, but then the title becomes dormant since it's a Sabbat title. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

But will be to no use, since it'll become dormant. Edit: And again Ankha beat me to it. =P Keep walking...

Yes, Regent is out for the reasons stated above. If you treat Vlad like Mata Hari, then how about using Strange Day? Are there other sect or title based cards you could exploit? No Secrets? It is hard to have Vlad vote as the star without a title, presence, or even AUS for Telepathic Vote Counting. Maybe more of a toolbox is in order. Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one. -Friedrich Nietzsche brandonsantacruz.blogspot.com/

hmm, it's not fully clear for me it he can become regent or not. If not than political aspect of this deck should be dropped. I will ask in rules subforum just to be sure. > > Are there other sect or title based cards you could exploit? No Secrets? > I was thinking about no secrets but it doesn't allow you to play obedience so I choose under siege instead. Vlad could Rise to become Nephtali but that requires more gehenna cards.

The best things you can do with Vlad Tepes are: -Chameleon + Mind Rape deck with Abombwe skills and Strange Day/Beast Meld -Wall deck with No Secrets + Second Trad etc.

And if you want to play banishments, than old good Nakhthorheb is just better. Adding mind rape to the chameleon is interesting but there is not much synergy here. Both cards needs a lot of blood and usually you want to play both of them at the same time (at the begginig of the game, when vampire full with blood just entered play) so they more compete with each other than help. Using Dracula to play just another star deck wall looks like a huge waste of potential for me. There is so much great vampires for it that it just makes no point IMO

just got another idea. If I understand correctly Vlad can play and use Kduva's Mask and even better he can fish for it with Magic of the Smith. Am I right? If yes, than exploring voting options is still worthy.

as for your deck: it could work. In chameleon decks playing crypt acceleration (zillah's valley/ info highway/ eternals of sirius) is a must. Without it you may not be able to play chameleon at all because vampires will enter play in earlier turns. How it went during games? as for my deck: I think Kduva's Mask is a good addition. Going for it costs you an action but you're doing it only if you need votes. And additional bleed and special against auspex are very handy. I posted new version (without Regent) in first post. Also I would like to try it with g.2-3 old tzimisce crypt (lambach, sasha vykos advanced)

With this deck you steal quickly 1-2 vamps and then the other players stop influencing, which is good for you. Then you just Mind Rape key vampires and start banishing. The problem is that you get all the aggro really fast. You don't have the time to lose to equip Kduva's Mask, only if you multiact (with Dual Form or similar).

Nakthorheb is becoming anarch with anarch convert, it doesn't costs him an action. Also thx to untap he can play chameleon first turn he can act (fee stake, untap, chameleon) > You don't have the time to lose to equip Kduva's Mask, only if you multiact (with Dual Form or similar) > I'm not so worried about taking actions to equip. This deck has a lot of defense so it don't need to rush for vp's just from the start. It would be better if vlad had some votes just from the start but I think it's still worthy to try play political decks with him.

It doesnt matter really how late your vampire comes into play, you can always play banishment and then get them when they influence it back out. With the Nakthoreb you would need the anarch convert, fee stake and chameleon ready. Not to mention the possibility of being blocked during the action of playing fee stake. What cordovader is saying is that you would need less cards to pull it off. Just Vlad and chameleon. Both decks have their own ups and downs.

alek

> It doesnt matter really how late your vampire comes into play, you can always play banishment and then get them when they influence it back out. > It matters a lot. First you need to have banishment (there are only two in presented deck) and more important you need votes for it and all you have is Vlad Tepes that can become baron and a hope that nobody will destroy his title in the meantime. All your other vampires are to small to play fee stake. To sum it up: 1.There is no crypt accelaration so other pepole will influence their vampires earlier -> no possibility to play chameleon in starting turns of the game 2. Very small number of votes and others can even destroy (and you're not blocking deck) the only ones you have -> minimal chance to succesfully play banishments How can you hope to succesfully play chameleons with it? That's why I'm saying that crypt accelaration in this deck is a must. It's even more important than in Narkthotheb build which has presence and can play vote push and more vampires that can become baron. > What cordovader is saying is that you would need less cards to pull it off. Just Vlad and chameleon. > Both decks have their own ups and downs. > Fully agree with this one, but that doesn't mean that you don't need crypt acceleration. You will just have better chances to have all cards you need on your hand because you don't need fee stake

Borrelstein

I agree the political route seems difficult, you can hardly expect to get vote lock with this deck; the opportunity to steal voters with Chameleon is small and one Inner Circle 9or even a 10-cap justicar) at the table will ruin the day if you rely on banishment. Maybe Brainwash to just slow them down as in the 419 decks? Anyway I think Chameleon is pretty hard to pull off repeatedly, mostly because of the timing issue and the blood cost in addition to the stealth/unblockable cards that cost blood as well. Heidelberg is a good option to refill Vlad after stealing, but still you will probably not have it until midgame. So I would not rely on Chameleon as your main strategy to win, not to mention the table hate you will get if you steal vamps repeatedly - plenty of incentive to kill you cross table. Anyway many midcap/weenie decks will still bring out new minions after the initial phase, so I think it is still nice to have 1-2 chameleons in a Vlad deck. Just stealing the extra midcap that your prey just brought out with Governed Sup., or even an Embrace, can already have a lot of impact on your ousting chances.

I will try to find a space for 1-2 copies.

Some points: -You don't need crypt accelerators, since people normally influence till they get 2-3 vamps. So when Vlad comes out he can just play his Chameleon. -10 and 11-caps are only problematic in early game. If you take a look at my decklist, there are 2 Abombwe skills to make Vlad 12-cap. You can Mind Rape them and Banish with them if you feel like it. -Again, if you check my decklist, there are 4 Heidelberg Castle in 60 cards, + other means of refilling him. Blood is not an issue (unless you get contested your HC, that's why i packed in a Dominate Kine). Anyway, you're going to get all the hate in the world with this deck, I agree with that. They key to success is knowing which vampires you need to steal to survive. There are going to obviously be tables were you're not going to be able to do nothing (as it matters to happen with every deck). PD: Brainwash is a good idea, the problem are the slots. Anyway, it's better that they influence, that they don't do it, because you need them to spend pool.

alek

> -You don't need crypt accelerators, since people normally influence till they get 2-3 vamps. So when Vlad comes out he can just play his Chameleon. > Right, normally they do, but playing against chameleon deck is not normal situation. That only works if they don't know what you're playing. If they know they will play around it. Influence vampires before you can play chameleon, then kicking your butt (as you said it's one of the biggest hate magnet in vtes) and influencing other vampires only when you're not able to steal them. We were playing with chameleon deck in our local meta for a long time and crypt acceleration was single most important factor that was deciding for a success of the deck. I can't see any reason not to use it.

Borrelstein

I can imagine the table hate if you run loads of Chameleon, better tool up before they come for you Anyway, Vlad opens up a lot of new combinations to try. Let's see if he is strong enough to make it to the TWDA this year

blackday

Given Vlad's abilities he can also play magic of the smith to get the Ankhara Citadel to offset some of the early chameleon use. For votes all he can probably do is kindred manipulation and loki's gift. Lack of sup. Auspex lost him telepathic vote counting. Voting will be tricky. Another way could be to magic of the smith Lyndhurst estate, New York and agate talisman.

Borrelstein

Ankara citadel is a Tremere location so Vlad can not play it, but of course Clan Impersonation is your friend But if you go that road it is probably easier to make a Tremere like Gerald Windham )+1 stealth) Anarch/Baron, as he has fortitude for multi-acting and making actions unblockable without blood cost.

blackday

Damn..i got it into my head his special was like Mata Hari's. Oh well scratch that idea off. Guess Mind rape/chameleon/heidelberg combo it js then.
