So if Byzar has an Anthema and is reduced to zero in combat what happens? I'm gathering he gains a burn counter and goes to torpor, but does the opposing minion's controller gain pool?

He gains a burn counter, goes to torpor and nothing else happens, similarily to Anathema + Reform Body:
groups.google.com/d/topic/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/TLNFS9u14lY/discussion
Name: Reform Body
[Sabbat:R, SW:PT]
Cardtype: Combat/Reaction
Discipline: Vicissitude
[vic] Only usable by a vampire being burned; he or she is sent into torpor instead. Usable by a vampire in torpor. Usable by a tapped vampire.
[VIC] As above, and this vampire gains 2 blood from the blood bank.

Can I ask for a follow-up on this?
Anathema + Byzar with 2 Counters on him.
What happens when Byzar gains a third counter?

He would be burned, but goes to torpor instead (his card text) and gets his third counter. No pool is gained, because there is no "burned vampire", which Anathema gives you pool equal to.
Now Byzar has three counters and is removed from the game, which isn't burning. So he's removed from the game.
James, in classic hairsplitting... and I was wanting PB to just stick it on the record in his role as the Rule Guy.
He gains the counter before going to torpor and is then removed from the game instead of reaching torpor.

He's not removed "instead". He goes to torpor (which triggers Tension in the Ranks for instance) then is removed from the game.
