I'll try to playtest it some day, it is supposed to be an "mage" expansion. It requires playtesting, tweaking and so on so feel free to try it or comment. Additional general rules: If there are 10 or more paradox counters in play, the paradox limit is reached. Burn all cards with paradox counters on them and each Methuselah burns 1 pool for each card burned this way he or she controls. [PARADOX] or [X PARADOX] is the cost for some effects. It means : "Put a (or X) paradox counter(s) on this card to..." As long as a minion has a number of paradox counters that equals or exceeds his or her capacity or cost, he or she can't pay paradox costs. Nephandus (Mage) can't pay paradox costs (though it may gain paradox counters through other means). When a mage provides an [ACTION MODIFIER] or [REACTION] effect, this effect can only be used once per action. [COMBAT] effects can be used only once per combat. Agenda cards are put into play at the start of the game. They're not part of your library or crypt. You may play only one Agenda. Spheres are not requirements, but may interact with other cards. wow awesome work, do you have some cards already made and if any is it possible to see them somewhere?// design of the spheres would they be placed same as disciplines/virtues etc. I love the idea about paradox and I must say good work. LOVE the concept and cards. What's the point of the Event? Doesn't seem to really do anything. With only 2 (I believe) cards that place Paradox counters, it'll be hard to play many Paradox abilities. That's a lot of cards to devote to a deck just to get Paradox. I want more... Already developed cards for changelings, mages, werewolves, and wraiths myself...this has just inspired me more. One question tho: How does an Agenda card come in play? As a Master phase card /Discard phase or you can put her into play any time? klubtitanatlas.hr/ former NC for Croatia

Paradox "costs" put paradox counters in play (that's paradoxal ) The Event is there either in a "blow paradox tech" (with Taint of Paradox to corrupt the allies, retainers and equipment of other methuselahs) or if you plan to play against mages (like Break the Code against Imbued). I really like the Agenda cards, liked it in the storylines like it here. Make more of them Also i have a few comments on the cards you have made. You mean with ability the Mystic of celestial chorus is to alow you to bypass the one action modifier/reaction rule or do you make an "invisible" copy that has the same effect(Mouthpiece conditioning conditioning is the second one a card played or does it just happen?). Paradox Breach, perhaps make it an action? Event are only playable once per game, but maybe that was the idea. Three paradox counters feels to cheap for the dragon. Can the Umbra Sphinx use inferior obf cards? There should be alot of balacing done but you need that with all new cards and systems Prince of Lidingö

I like it. Integrates with vtes a lot nicer than the Imbued rules I think. Just a few questions about the design though, are the mages supposed to be balanced against existing mage allies? or are you basing off the fact that existing mages are a bit under powered (except Nephandus) and trying to bump them up a bit? Also, with the spheres, you say they're not requirements but they're traits to interact with other cards. I can't see any cards in your set that have that interaction, is that right? they're just there to provide future expansion options? edit: ooh, and I just thought, if you combine your 'agenda' card with the alternate edge cards Juggernaut was working on (I think it was Jugger, anyway), it could be something like this as a card that starts in play and replaces the normal effect for holding the edge. Edge. Vampires you control have -1 stealth. When a vampire would come into play during your influence phase, you may remove him or her from the game instead and search your hand, ash heap or library (shuffle afterwards) for a mage ally that vampire could recruit and whose cost is not greater than his or her capacity. Put that mage into play at no cost. During your untap phase, if you control the Edge, you may remove 1 paradox [PARADOX] counter in play to gain 1 pool. So you can't meddle in Vampire politics with the edge if you're mages, and you can only get pool if there's paradox to clear. -- salem

Boris The Blade

If the goal of the -1 Stealth in the agenda is to avoid messing with the existing cards, it is not enough. Weenie rush decks would love a reliable Nephandus to clean the torpor region...

I've got the Power-Edge Variation up here if people are interested... I'll probably post it as a new thread. It still needs testing. The JPG should be configured to print out at 300dpi, so just take it to Officeworks/Kinkos/etc and they should appear at the right size for sliding into a sleeve. sites.google.com/site/juggernaut1981svtesdownloads/home/power-edge-variation Plus a possible Edge Variation for your own Mage Expansion. Arcane Edge Edge Variation. During your untap you may give 2 Mage Allies 1 life (but not more than their starting life). You may burn the Edge to prevent any amount of damage from a single source inflicted on a Mage you control. Retired Baron of Sydney, Australia, 418

They will get a boost though with all the cards they can now use. See Dreamspeaker. But there will be others. Making Spheres requirements didn't fit in the gameplay. Some Mages could be forbidden some spheres though, by cardtext. And yeah, they open the door to future interaction ideas. Just add 3 or 4 small !Tremere to the crypt, and if you expect to get more than 4 minions out, add a couple of Wider View to flush the excess. Wider View is a Trifle and pool gain, so it can mix well with pretty much anything. > And if you remove a !Tremere, you could simply influence it, buy 1 or more Nephandus, and avoid the -1 stealth penalty (which is annoying on hunts for weenie pot decks). > First, this costs more pool as you have to pay for the !Tremere and the Nephandus. Second, how do you get the recruit action trough? Even Nephandus decks do not recruit them Third and most important, you need the Nephandus in hand to recruit it, so you can't have only 1 in the deck and it messes with your card flow. As for hunting, Glancing blow + Taste of Vitae is all the stealth a weenie pot needs and it's already in the deck. Don't take my word for it, test it. Your cards also solve the Ponticulus problem for a rush deck: just go fetch an Elementalist.

I really doubt this agenda will do anything significant to weenie rush decks. just give them another option around how to be built. it's all extra moving parts, which as we've all seen when playing means things can and will go wrong. But the best point made is to play it and see. edit: and on the pdf the paradox symbol is very hard to see unless really zoomed in. it might need to be simplified, or go inside a shape (hexagon? squares are for disciplines, circles are for virtues...so it'd have to be something else) or have it's internal bits set as white instead of clear or something. :/ but it's a cool symbol. edit2: this might be simpler and be more distinct on a card? www.optical-illusion-pictures.com/images/icon4.jpg it'd be it's own shape not used before in vtes as far as i can recall at the moment. -- salem

Ankha-vcm.exe doesn't seem to do anything. (Other than open up a DOS window and disappear.) What are the usage instructions/expectations?

Yeah but we're still missing all of the information to be included in the CSV. What are the columns? Etc,etc, etc I mean I've got something for Inkscape that can basically do the same job, BUT I don't use it much because I hate dealing with the various bits and pieces. BTW, code is ugly as hell (that's for me) and the csv file must contain a "sphere" column (that's for you, see the associated mages.csv file). The tool isn't finished yet because I have a few corrections/improvements to do: - add support for crypt cards - add support for classical csv files (= ignore the requirement of the sphere column) - add the pictures - adjust the size of the cards for printing - support conviction costs - add "event" symbol on event cards - clever handling of card text carriage returns (whatever ) (guess "unbreakable" spaces) - and so on Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

I think they are the csv files that can be downloaded from vekn.net (didn't check). The best way to use it would be to create your cards using a spreadsheet like Excel and export the data as a csv file. I generated a pdf files of all the existing cards using my tool without worries. You'll have to include an empty "sphere" column though. Work is still under progress. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

Ankha, Before you go coding your heart out... Try see if this extension for Inkscape is what you're trying to replicate: www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/950 It takes an input csv, uses a prebuilt template and then outputs a sheet of 'counters' that can be printed from Inkscape. I think it will at least do 90% of what you're trying to do. Retired Baron of Sydney, Australia, 418

Didn't know that tool. I don't thnik it can do exactly what I want (at least the 10% missing), and my tool is only 2 days work, so it's really a big matter. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

I am really liking this, even though I doubt I can get the guys here in Tokyo to playtest. One thing though: Do you later plan on putting the spheres as disci symbols? because they are a bit distracting when on top of the cad text. You mentioned this in the thread but not sure what your final decision was...

See Through the Tides of Time has no requirement and therefor can be played by anything, even with the paradox? Is that right and if so, isn't that a little to powerful for anyone to be able to play?

some cards has "it can be canceled as it is played". How ?? You don't say anything about how to cancel the card. 2nd, when a card has a "paradox" symnol, it means it's the cost of the cards ? if yes, the mage spend it or gain it ? And by the way, nice word, i just discover this.

I don't get it the opponent will always chose to cancel it. He has nothing to fear to cancel it. I mean, the choice is easy, there is no bad effect that will apply if you chose to cancel the card.

Ankha

Which card are you talking about? All debts work the same way: you help another Methuselah and he'll be in debt with you while the card is in play. He may choose to cancel it though when it's played, so you can't force him or her to be in debt with you. Typical case: Name: Call of Blood Cardtype: Reaction Sphere: Life. Spirit. Requires a ready mage. Only usable when a vampire with blood is hunting. Debt. Put this card on the acting vampire and that vampire enters combat with a vampire with blood controlled by another Methuselah instead. You may burn this card to move 1 blood from the vampire to this mage. The acting vampire's controller may cancel this card as it is played. Meth A: "I can't back rush, I don't have a rush card in hand". Meth B (playing mages): "Well, I can provide a rush if you want, you just have to hunt with your vampire" Meth A "Ok. Hunt" Meth B "I play Call of Blood; do you want to cancel it?" Meth A "no, I'll enter combat with Dolphin Black" (I have to change the wording. The card is only usable as the action is announced and becomes a action) Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

"the acting vampire's controller may choose to cancel this card as it is played" would be clearer

mode french on Mouais... mode french off. I didn't get the fact that it was to help other metusela. Don't really think it's ok. In most case, i would cancel the card.

As things stand, the playing Methuselah sets the terms of the card before it's cancelled (e.g. I tell you how much I play Minion Tap for, before you play Sudden Reversal). A different Methuselah choosing the term after the cancellation window has passed isn't immediately apparent from the wording.

To add on to the debt card conversation, I believe you need the "you still control this card" text on them in order to burn them for the benefit. Also on "Call of Blood" blood counters can't turn into life counters, so it would be more of "Burn this card to burn one blood off this vampire and to add one life to the mage that played this card." in order for it to work as intended. Also the debt cards are an awesome way to screw with the table, great job on thous.

Updated card text. Added Mage Meddling and Escape!, > Name: Mage Meddling > Cardtype: Action > Sphere: Correspondance. Time. > Requires a ready mage. > [PARADOX] Put this card into play with a paradox [PARADOX] counter on it. Your prey burns this card and 3 pool when he or she plays a master card that is not put on a vampire. Only 1 Mage Meddling may be burned this way for each master card. Burn this card if there is no paradox counter on it. > A disguised bleed for 3 that triggers later in the game (or never if you prey gives up playing master cards.) The action is directed at your prey. > Name: Escape! > Cardtype: Action modifier > Sphere: Correspondence. Matter. > Requires a mage. Only usable when a minion attempts to block. > Burn any vehicle on this mage. This mage equips with the first vehicle it can equip and use that you find in your library (working down from the top; ignore cost). This mage gains X paradox [PARADOX] counters where X is the cost of the vehicle. If the number of paradox counters on this mage exceeds its cost, burn the excess, burn the vehicle and this mage takes an amount of damage equal to the excess burned. > A combo card with Nitro, but can be also a way of equipping vehicles (a theme in this expansion). Basically, the mage steals a vehicle, but if its too big to be true (hmm, let's steal that helicopter), a paradox backlash may be induced. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

May 2012 updates Last Resort: Made clear where the paradox counter go (the weapon, not the mage) Backlash: Now the damage is dealt to both minions in combat. Added: Action modifier/Reaction/Combat > > Name: Wings of the Angel > Cardtype: Action modifier/Reaction/Combat > Sphere: Life. Spirit. > Requires a ready mage. > Put this card on this mage.
