Tournament report: Swedish ECQ 2014

My report from the Swedish ECQ this weekend can be found at Stockholm Jyhad Thanks to the organizers and all participants! "My strategy? Luck is my strategy, of course."

Congrats to Marko for winning the day! Great to see that Erik was again playing in the tournament, as just a couple of weeks ago I was think had this brilliant player actually quit the game. I was somewhat puzzled by the description of his deck ("Nergal slow turbo stealth-bleed") What the heck is a "slow turbo"!? You seemed to be preying on Finnish gals a lot during the tournament.But you got the name for one in the first round wrong -it is Niina, not Tiina Finnish Politics!

Yes, good to see Erik back, although he refused to let me oust him I thought slow turbo was a known deck type. It´s not really a turbo, but with Call the Great Beast + lots of Freak Drives, it´s gets kind of "slow turbo" He used Summoning for multiple Infernal Servitors, among other tricks. The deck list should be up soon. "My strategy? Luck is my strategy, of course."

Untap from burning it is something that most people don't realize can be done on your own turn also, and when people forget that they count it wrong what you can do. Also when you have it on your vamp some people stop doing some actions cause they see that I don't even need to play card from my hand to block them. And if I burn it to be able to block something, many take that as "There went the tears, so he must be out of wakes" and they become reckless with their actions. It does mess with peoples "math", and that is always funny. It´s just that we played with it alot when it was new, and everybody in that group kind of learned how it works and all the tricks. Any chance to see the finalist decks ? I like swedish deckbuilding a lot !!

This allows to concentrate more effects than usual in a certain time frame, good for making lunges which are sometimes the only way to score a VP. Say you have an aggressive predator and three minions, so you can´t afford to tap out. You can tap one and play ZT in turn X and bleed for one or so. Then you can probably tap everyone in turn X+1, because you have that untap ready in addition to the ones in your hand. I remember I did use it in some Vignes-style !Ventrue bleeder waaaay back, just for this. Then I wen´t back to Freak Drives I might try it in my Tzimisce voter, the Danse Macabre-master card just don´t work "My strategy? Luck is my strategy, of course."
