After having seen the blog by simidh.blogspot.com/2011/07/brief-review-of-ardb-vs-feldb.html I was embarrassed as I have replaced ARDB as lead developer. I am currently working on a new beta for ARDB and having very little access to my building tools so Ive done little to no devleopment. I hope this will change soon. Please local your ardb.ini ARDB_3_1_1/ardb.ini Edit that as a text file. Add the following: UpdateServer=www.vekn.net UpdateFile=/images/stories/downloads/vtescsv.zip This will enable the auto update function of the database to work correctly. Even as I write this I am working on using the Google Code ARDB site as a place to store the images in .zip format. In the upcoming beta, I will adjust the auto downloader of the images to work correctly. A very small change. As the original download site no longer exists. But I need Beta testers!! Anyone willing to test the updated version please send me a message here (PM of course) with email address and I will send a beta version of 3.1.2Beta. Please feel free to contact me here or via posting a bug on ARDB. I cannot fix changes to Mac and am willing to advise anyone willing to try and build and compile on that platform.

Oops, ouch! Am really sorry as I really hadn't meant to cause you or anyone any embarrassment. I was just reviewing what I found had worked and not worked for me as tried to decide which deck builder and inventory software to use from the available ones I found. Thank you for your prompt response on the blog and on google code as well, I really appreciate it Simon aka Simidh

Really new users are why I started working on the project. Your the type of person I want to use the software. And I feel that by letting it fail like that for so long its really sad and embarrassing. I have been out of the loop for about 5 to 6 months because I was traveling internationally. Ive been back for about two months now but have not had time to do alot. I have a beta version already built and have been following some of the posts about it but have had no time to do anything until today.

Works great! Thanks!

Bujo appears to have incomplete text, and this appears to be an error within the CSV file. Gines? There are some other mistakes in the csv file: Conditioning is lacking a dot after "+2 bleed" Khobar Tower is lacking a dot after "Master: unique location" Movement of the Slow Body is lacking a dot after "Only usable by a tapped vampire in torpor" Phantom Speaker is lacking a dot after "Only usable when this acting vampire is blocked (before tapping the blocker)" Redline is lacking a dot after "Master: out-of-turn" Winddance is lacking a dot after "[tha] Strike: dodge" I think I saw another cart apart Bujo that was truncated, but can't rember which. vtes.csv file has been updated (vekn.net/images/stories/downloads/vtescsv.zip) Let me know if it doesn't work as expected. The previous file is still available here: vekn.net/images/stories/downloads/vtescsv-20110101.zip

Or perhaps not. Update from local file and update from internet both produce errors. -Cancelling changes to prevent database corruption. Query was: CREATE TABLE CRYPT (stuff) SQL error: near " ": syntax error Query was: CREATE TABLE cards_crypt_unsorted (stuff) SQL error: near " ": syntax error

Attempting the update of ARDB today generates errors. I get this: > Downloading... > Importing file vtescrypt.csv... Importing file vteslib.csv... Importing file vtessets.csv... ERROR -> UPDATE ABORTED (ROLLBACK) > Database update has ended. > You may need to restart ARDB. >

my ardb.ini file already has the following lines UpdateCards=1 UpdateServer=www.vekn.net UpdateFile=/images/stories/downloads/vtescsv.zip

After updating to the latest CSV in ARDB loads of cards are missing and I'm unable to load past decks. Crypt count before updating: 1368, after: 1311 — one vampire that's missing: The Unnamed. The main difference between the two files seems to be the line endings (the new uses \r\n and the old \n) and there are differences in the way the columns are encapsulated, for example: "Xian ""DziDzat155"" Quan" vs "Xian DziDzat155 Quan" I suspect ARDB doesn't support the double quote approach and this is the most likely cause for the issues... A little heads-up about ARDB and saved decks. code.google.com/p/ardb/issues/detail?id=83 If you reimport the vtescsv.zip and you think something changed, be VERY careful about opening saved decks - they will be changed and AUTOMATICALLY resaved without prompt. I'd suggest you back up all your saved decks so you don't lose anything just by opening them.

I tried to attach an older version of the file that still works, without Pascal's changes, but evidently 284 kb is too big for the forum.

The problem with Pascal's HttB stuff is that the file MUST end in a newline, pretty much, just put a blank line at the end of vtessets.csv. Actually, same goes for all the .csv files - they have to end with a blank line. I'd strongly recommend that anyone who wants to edit these .csv files uses a Diff tool (like P4Merge) to compare their changed version with the original. Oh, and if you ever get any import errors with ARDB, you have to close ARDB, reopen it, import a working vtescsv.zip, close ARDB, reopen it. THEN you can import your (possibly) fixed modified csv.zip. Even though that message pops up about "Rolling back to prevent database corruption" it's a lie. It misses cleaning up something, and you'll have problem on subsequent imports until you reopon ARDB and import successfully.

Pascal Bertrand

Updated files with a blankline For example, the last line of vtessets.csv is: "HttB","20100203","Heirs to the Blood","White Wolf"\r\n \r\n

Now seems to work fine thanks Stefano Stefano "Walt" Calzighetti Prince of Pordenone (Italy)

Interestingly, "update from Internet" didn't work, but "update from local file" after downloading the .zip worked. (ARDB 3.1.1)

I've win 7 on my laptop and win xp on my desktop and yesterday when I open my ardb 3.1.1 on both PCs (after reading your post) I find a pop up who let me know "new version bla bla bla", I chose to update and it works without problem ardb 3.1.1 build april 6 2010 Stefano "Walt" Calzighetti Prince of Pordenone (Italy)

Hi! Great job, worked perfectly on Mac. To edit the ardb.ini on mac, do this: 1) Go to Applications folder on Finder. 2) Right click on ARDB.app and select "Show package contents" 3) Go to the folder Contents/Resources. The ardb.ini is listed there. 4) Edit the file as you should do in Windows and save. 5) Run ARDB again and try to update the database. 6) Smile. Flip a coin. Thank you.
