Continental Championships Changes
Dropped: The "25%/33%/50% participants qualify" rule no longer applies. Added: "A player with at least 1 Game Win at a Continental Championship Qualifier qualifies." Added: "The winner of any Continental Championship Qualifier qualifies." Added: "For the Australian Championships, a player with at least 0.5 Victory Point per preliminary round played + 0.5 Victory Point qualifies." Added: "To reward the judges who put so much time and effort into running these events, the judges for Regional continental qualifiers automatically qualify if they don't play in their event."

The Archon
The Archon 1.5b has been finialized. It will be available in the Download page. (Please note we're still running validity checks against the upload module. Till October 5th, please continue to use the Archon available in the Download page.)
The Archon 1.5b should be compatible with OpenOffice and LibreOffice suites.
Will the Asian and South American Continentals still remain open events after this change?

Just to clarify Pascal...
That ruling does mean that:
0.5VP/round + 0.5VP at a Qualifier Tournament results in Qualification for Australian Qualifier Tournaments? or just for the purposes of Qualifying to the AUSNZ Championship?

Will a list of all the players that qualified be automatically fed by the submission of the Archons?
Or will a volunteer have to build the list by hand like me and Jeff on the previous years? I volunteered for 2014.
If so, I propose to be mandatory for each organizer post the link to the result page of his Tournament in the TWD post.

True. On the other hand, once we have enough Archon results in, it should be easy enough to write a script which prints out the most probable number of qualifieds for a given number of players. It won't be exact, of course, but should be enough to estimate with.

No it is not.
So far I've had a single (1) instace where there was a problem with sizes. Andf that was you my good Sir...
In the future it'll be cropping up all the time.
Especially because NC's don't most likely want to order excessive number of T shirts just in case.
I for one don't want to invest my money in speculative market of shirts for the ECQ for 6+ months in advance.
All in all, probably a wise rule change, but logistically it is a nightmare!

These tournaments, as long as they remain in Open format, are not affected by rules that affect the Qualification system.
Should their organizers decide to apply the Qualification system to their events, then, they would follow the rules given here (and there would have to be a choice on which system fits which event).

These rules only apply to continental qualifiers.
You are free to use whatever rules you want for your National qualifiers.
In France, we've been using the 1GW qualifier rule for a year. Spain has a trickier system. The UK has its Nationals run in Open system. I can't remember exactly how Italy handles their National Championships (there used to be a series of events in Italy ending with the Nationals).

As Jussi said, retrieving players who qualified starting Oct 5th will be rather easy, with the hypothesis that Archons have been submitted and approved.

The average % of players with 1 GW in tournaments of 15+ players is 35% (this stat was calculated over 200+ events, iirc). I suppose that helps a bit.

Hasn't been an issue so far (it would have mattered in "small" tournaments (in which a GW would lead you to the finals, thus awarding you the qualification slot).
It is not required that a partcipant has played in all rounds.
Especially:
- Players who couldn't attend the first round of the tournament, and have played rounds 2 and 3 successfully enough to get a GW will qualify.
- Players who made it to top 5 after preliminary rounds with a GW but drop the finals will still qualify.
- Players disqualified with no prize won't get their qualification at the event.
Just a reminder:
The "Continental Championships" page will need to be updated to reflect the new rules...
