Unsanctioned Event Report Turpakäräjät 1 Helsinki; Finland May 21st, 2011 3R+F 9 Players Tuomas "Tube" Vuokko I'm guessing that having it on the same week as Finnish Championships had the mark on attendance. Nevertheless, fun tourney with different deck. No one came up with an ubercheasy deck that trumped all others. Although Jari did raise a concern should the format limit the number of combo cards, having tried to explot the number of combt cards with piles of Deny and Swallowed by Night. He didn't get to the finals so we're not convinced if this is necessary... Plenty of timeouts. Only one game eneded before timeouting Here's Tube's winning deck. More comments and pics later on -I'm off to Finnish Championships... Deck Name: Wraiths with zip guns Created By: Teemu Sainomaa Description: Should have included way more forward going actions for the wraiths. Few more haven uncovereds and a fame would have helped a lot. The deck was fun to play with. Boris The Blade

What is Ponticulus doing here? He cannot use the guns...

Hakuron

Maybe he is just an "eternal" blocker, with +2 intercept against directed actions under Unmasking ... National Coordinator Germany nc [dot] germany [at] magenta [dot] de

Azazel

He's in the deck for just blocking purposes. You could tweak the deck and include Biothaumaturgic Experiments. Didn't have enough time to think if it's worth the investment and an action.

The wraith deck seems too short on wraiths to work very well.... Also, why Ashurs instead of locations to get the hand size to actually find your wraiths? Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one. -Friedrich Nietzsche brandonsantacruz.blogspot.com/

As for drawing wraiths, the combat cards probably cycle out fairly quickly even if you're not actively rushing anybody.

[Fri May 27 07:50:33 2011] The idea here was that the best combat offense is a good combat defense - Flesh of Marble and Ignore the Searing Flames means that the vampire will be taking basically a maximum of one point of damage per round. Evil Eye can be used to counter Comas and such. Unnamed didn't enter torpor even once and all in all I think that only one of my vamps got torpored all tournament. On the offense there is the built-in aggravated and cancelling dodges with a surprise additional strike to boot. In this format Greater Curse basically shut down vampires as paying an extra blood for combat cards was crippling. Aside from that, I tried to pack in a nice bleed punch as well. Ended up as top seed in the finals and lost them basically due to a stupid mistake (I had never realized that Greater Curse indeed gives you stealth for the bleed action as well) but OTOH had the game been 10 minutes longer, I would've lost even if I had realized the stealth and ousted my prey, so can't really complain.

Here's my Thaumaturgy Uta deck. On the first table the couple Terror Frenzys that Lauri had in his Girls deck totally stumped my combat, especially as he managd to cycle them time and again. Then again, on second table he didn't draw those and I robbed his maneuvers (from Aid from Bats) with Thoughts Betrayed thus manging to oust him. Spirit Summoning Chamber is way cool and Shoulder Drop is also so awesome letting you control presses. Uta really likes Serenading the Kamis so there should be more of them in the deck. The deck has way too little ousting power though. Originally I envisioned also using Claudio Severino, but Gehenna Events would've eaten too much card slots. Also finding a suitable way for him to rush was another card slot problem. There's too little intercept to have him just block. For regular play, I'm planning on combining this with an older Thaumaturgy rush deck starring Oliver Thrace as you just got to take care of those pesky combat ends somehow. 3 Carna, The Princess Witch 1 Ladislas Toth, The Torch 1 Muhsin Samir 1 Paul Cordwood 1 Selena 5 Uta Kovacs ACTION (13) 3 Biothaumaturgic Experiment 2 Ecstatic Agony 5 Govern the Unaligned 1 Graverobbing 1 Pulse of the Canaille 1 Rutor's Hand ACTION MODIFIER (4) 4 Serenading the Kami COMBAT (54) 8 Apportation 3 Aura Reading 8 Blood Fury 2 Blood Rage 2 Blood to Water 1 Eldritch Glimmer 1 Flames of the Netherworld 1 Primal Instincts 8 Rego Motis 3 Shoulder Drop 1 Soul Burn 7 Taste of Vitae 4 Thoughts Betrayed 5 Wind Dance REACTION (7) 5 Eyes of Argus 2 My Enemy's Enemy MASTER (12) 1 Monastery of Shadows 1 Spirit Summoning Chamber 1 Storage Annex 2 Sudden Reversal 5 Vessel 2 Wider View Finnish Politics!
