llomba Animal with 1 life. Requires a Laibon. Put Ilomba on any minion (this is a +1 stealth action if that minion is controlled by another Methuselah). If Ilomba would burn a life (or would otherwise be burned), this minion burns a blood or life instead. If he or she cannot, he or she is burned. A minion may have only one Ilomba. Swarm Animal with 1 life. Requires a ready Laibon. Put the Swarm on any ready minion (employing the Swarm is a +1 stealth action if that minion is controlled by another Metuselah). If this action is blocked, put the Swarm on the acting minion instead (no cost is paid). During this minion`s untap phase, if the Swarm has more than 1 life, it burns a life; otherwise it steals a blood or life from this minion. A minion may have only one Swarm > My_Question_is_as_follows wrote: > When you try to employ llomba, do you put it on someone elses minion as a action, or do you HAVE to put it on your minion, and then on another turn, use the "Put Ilomba on any minion"? > > Just wondering when the "Put Ilomba on any minion" takes affect or timing. For reference, "Swarm" says when you employ as below which is where I was confused. >

It's when you employ the llomba / Swarm that you decide which minion will get it, instead of the performing minion. Their ability to be put on any minion is a modification of the normal recruit action, not an action you can take when you have the retainer. Once you have one of thoses on a minion, the minion cannot move it without card effect.

Your question is difficult to parse (it is inside that quote block, with no question mark). Anyways, when playing Ilomba / Swarm / Charnas, the target minion is chosen amongst the terms of the effect. The "Put Ilomba/..." isn't an in-play effect.

Thanks, I updated my post.

One more question if I may which relates to Retainers. Invoke Poison Glands [abo] [REFLEX] Cancel a frenzy card played on this vampire as it is played. [abo] Strike: hand strike at +1 damage. [ABO] Strike: burn the opposing animal or mortal, or strike: hand strike at +X damage, where X is the number of Orun on this vampire. Normally you can only target Retainers at Long range, but does Invoke POison Glands let you target, or in this case Burn, a animal or mortal retainer at close?

Boris The Blade

"The opposing..." only refers to the minion you are fighting, not one of his retainers. Even if the burn strike was ranged, you could not use it on a retainer.

Put Ilomba on my prey’s vampire (who has no blood) as 1 action. Then engage in combat with my prey’s vampire (who has the Ilomba) with one of my other vampires. During combat (range is close), can I play “Invoke Poison Glands” on my prey’s Ilomba (animal retainer) at close range and Burn it, which would in fact Burn the vampire due to Ilombas effect? Or is this only geared towards a Ally that is Mortal or animal? “If Ilomba would burn a life (or would otherwise be burned), this minion burns a blood or life instead. If he or she cannot, he or she is burned. A minion may have only one Ilomba.”

Pascal Bertrand

Burning Ilomba (Weather Control, range strike targetting the retainer, ..) will force the minion it is on to burn blood or life. Only if this cannot be achieved will Ilomba burn the minion.

If a card allow you to target them, it's worded this way : "Strike: burn the opposing non-wraith ally or a non-wraith retainer on the opposing minion." (taken from autonomic mastery). An opposing XXX is alway an ally or a vampire (or a card which have the ability to function as an ally or a vampire), never a retainer, equipment, or other card.

Trigger

Ok, I understand now. This only targets a vampire or ally. Can I have examples of using Invoke Poison Glands on a "Animal"? I know mortal allies, but not too many animal allies are around is there?

Pascal Bertrand

Set's Curse, Underbridge Stray and Demdemeh's creations are animal allies.

Klaital

Underbridge Stray and allies created by Demdemehs special are the only animal allies in the game iirc.

Trigger

Thanks everyone. That helps me a lot in what I am wanting to do. You guys rock!

Squidalot

Examples could include: Underbridge stray is an animal ally and you can also create them using set's cruse.
