Clarification on Walk of Caine and Gestalt

LSJ has previously ruled that for Gestalt the first vampire chosen must be the one playing the card (newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Rec/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/2008-05/msg00912.html). Is that ruling still valid and applicable to the Walk of Caine? "including this vampire" requires that the vampire playing the card be chosen in the set of ready Blood Brothers (which means X is at least 1).
