LSJ has previously ruled that for Gestalt the first vampire chosen must be the one playing the card (newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Rec/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/2008-05/msg00912.html). Is that ruling still valid and applicable to the Walk of Caine? Walk of Caine Action Modifier Sanguinus Choose X ready Blood Brothers you control who belong to the same circle as this acting vampire (including this acting vampire). Each chosen vampire must burn a blood, or this card has no effect. +X bleed. Only usable as a bleed action is announced. After playing this card, you cannot play another action modifier to further increase the bleed for this action. As above, but usable any time before the action is resolved. Gestalt Reaction Sanguinus Choose X ready Blood Brothers you control who belong to the same circle as this reacting vampire (including this vampire). Each chosen vampire must burn a blood, or this card has no effect. +X intercept. +X intercept, and this vampire may play cards as if he or she possessed all of the chosen Blood Brothers' Disciplines for the remainder of the action. Yes. The "(including this vampire)" / "(including this acting vampire)" part is the reason why you must select at least this vampire. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

"including this vampire" requires that the vampire playing the card be chosen in the set of ready Blood Brothers (which means X is at least 1).
