does the direct "Go to topor" wounding action count as damage for the purpose of playing "prevent damage" cards? I say not, but some of my fellow players disagree...

there is no damage inflicted, so no damage prevention card can be played. See Theft of vitae. they have the opportunity to play cards which state "usable when this vampire should go into torpor" like undead persistence. Imagination is our only weapon in the war against reality -Jules de Gaultier

What is "the direct 'Go to topor' wounding action"? Damage dealing strikes either involve strength (Slam) or a fixed number (Aid from Bats). "Strike: send the opposing minion to torpor" is not preventable. The only way to avoid going to torpor is with a Strike: Combat ends or a strike: dodge.
