it got brought up in another thread that sometimes it's difficult to remember just what discipline you chose for Sanguine Instruction or Spontaneous power. soo.... what do y'all think of this?

wesile

The problem isn't potence... usually lies in spiritus, obeah, etc, etc... Nice artwork... if you create this for the "scarce" disciplines I will gladly print it for my playgroup. Cheers

I like the design, but I think it would be better to change the orientation to portrait so you can just put it under the vampire and make it stick out. Otherwise, it takes too much space horizontally and makes it harder to tap the vampire. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

thanks guys! I'll play around with the orientation a little later, but i seem to remember the Anarch/Corruption cards having a landscape orientation. edit: There, this better? the idea is that one can change the orientation of the card to remind either superior or basic of the discipline.

Spiritus reminder card: i'm considering adding in the superior symbol with similar effects as the current basic one i've got going on, so that things match up. thoughts?

Put it in a 3.5" square format. Then a regular card sits right over the top AND it's easy to see on the side. A number of Print-on-Demand companies will deal with 3.5" square formats so you can easily print them out. Retired Baron of Sydney, Australia, 418

I will look into it.

How would it look with the discipline symbol lower, closer to where discipline symbols appear on a vampire? Independent Futurist. Contrarian (titled, X votes where X is the number of votes as the acting minion.) Target Vitals is always the better combat card.

Something to keep in mind is that you don't want the reminder cards to accidentally cause someone to think they're actual discipline cards with capacity increases. Maybe use different colors than those of master cards to help differentiate them?

wesile

Well Ben... in this case they are actually discipline cards. But its a good idea to color code the reminder cards... Lets say Green for discipline (masters are green), and other colors for corruption, anarch, baari, black hand, infernal, trap counters, etc, etc. The anarch/corruption reminder was printed but its hard to get them and maybe its a good idea to make some more.

BenPeal

Designer intent as per the original post is for the cards to be used as reminders of disciplines gained via cards like Sanguine Instruction and Spontaneous Power. They're not intended to be actual discipline cards.

wesile

Well, you right at that point. I wasn't all that clear. Was I was stating was that cards gained with sanguine instruction, Spontaneous or other similar effects will have the same effect as discipline cards. However if a vampire gets burned, none of this cards goes to the ash heap...

BenPeal

Discipline cards increase a vampires capacity, and can be burned by Mehemet of the Ahl-i-Batin, or stolen by Absorb the Mind.

wesile

Yup... that is also a fact.

self biased

yeah, I wasn't intending on creating master: discipline cards for the 'rare' disciplines.

self biased

i did a little bit of tinkering: I removed the green bar, so as to make it a little more plain that this isn't supposed to to be an actual master card. i also put a slight fade in one of them.

self biased

i decided to revisit this and hopefully this will work for people. I feel it's sufficiently distinct to not be mistaken as a master card, but not so far out there as to look goofy; i tried a few different colors/textures but they all look like shit.

TorranceCircle

Can you do one for spiritus and sanguinous ? I think I would use them.

self biased

i plan on doing reminder cards for all of the disciplines, i just want to get the look of the card right first.

self biased

hey TorranceCircle: squares or circles?

oh god, you're right. been polling around and the square seems to be the more popular, so i guess it's time to get to work. i have one last tweak i want to look at, though. edit: also, do you guys realize how hard it is to find crisp, high resolution pics of these disciplines? edit edit: I basically scale up the icons i have for disciplines and work a little photoshop-fu on them for the center icon. however, some don't really scale up very well, and i resorted to taking a photo of one of my cards to get an obeah icon that i could actually use. if anyone has an alternative to image capturing disciplines from the PCK .pdf, i'd appreciate id. otherwise, this is going to take me a few days to get things that look nice.

TorranceCircle

square looks good.

These are ace. I'd prefer the square too

i'm going to go for squares at first, and then if i'm feeling adventurous, i'll go back and do circles if there's sufficient demand. until i get access to this utility i'm jonesing for, i may actually have to photograph my own cards to get crisp things. there are also a lot of disciplines, so this will probably take me a few weeks to complete all the cards.

Squares are better than circles. What do diamonds look like, since those are Superior? When you are anvil, be patient; when a hammer, strike. pckvtes.wordpress.com @pckvtes

self biased

I haven't tried a diamond out yet, but because of the way I think the geometry will work out I think it will be as unsatisfying as the circle. The idea is that one could orient the card to show the different levels of discipline.
