Hi! I couldn't find anything about this from the Rulebook: What happens when I have a vampire in the uncontrolled region in full capacity at the end of Influence phase and I already control a copy of said vampire? Let's say I already have Jorge de la Muerte, Jack Dawson and Baron. The Baron uses Little Mountain Cemetery so that all of their copies in the uncontrolled region would go to full capacity. I transfer a blood back from Baron and Jack, but Jorge is still at full cap. What happens? Nothing? The same applies to Soul Gem of Etrius. If the Soul Gem triggers, and it would reveal a vampire I already control, what happens? "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! He's a complete bastard, and calling him that insults bastards everywhere!" -Nalia De-Arnise garourimgazette.wordpress.com/ www.vekn.net/forum-guidelines

4.1. Contested Cards Some of the cards in the game represent unique resources, such as specific locations, equipment or people. These cards will be identified as "unique" in their card text. In addition, all crypt cards represent unique minions. If more than one unique card with the same name is brought into play, that means control of the card is being contested. For the duration of the contest, all of the contested cards are turned face down and are out of play. If another unique card with the same name is brought into play, it is immediately contested and turned face down as well. The cost to contest a card is one pool, which you pay during each of your untap phases. Instead of paying the cost to contest the card, you may choose to yield the card. A yielded card is burned. Any cards or counters stacked on the yielded card are also burned. If all other cards contesting your unique card are yielded, then the card is untapped and turned face up during your next untap phase, ending the contest. Be careful about putting duplicates of the same unique cards in your deck. You can't control more than one of the same unique card at a time, and you cannot contest cards with yourself (if some effect would force you to contest a card with yourself, then you simply burn the incoming copy of the unique card). On the other hand, you may wish to have a second copy handy in case the first is burned.

However, transferring a full vampire out isn't voluntary, so it comes out. (Moving the pool onto it might well have been voluntary, of course. But that's a separate step.) Since it would contest with you, the incoming copy burns. The copy in play sticks around, without being contested. This is unlike many library card situations. For example, you have an Elder Library in play and one in hand - that play would be voluntary, so you can't do it. If forced to do so - say, by Vast Wealth pulling out a unique piece of equipment you already control - the incoming copy burns.

@Wesile: Thanks, but that part of the Rulebook doesn't really answer the question. Neither do the overview of Crypt cards, or the overview of the Influence phase. @James: Thanks. I heard something about burning (I knew that you can't Voluntarily bring unique stuff up), but I wasn't sure who burns, and where does it state that. So I'll have to tell my Samedi playing friends to be careful then. Also, Soul Gem without careful planning can be risky business. Vast Wealth was interesting as well - I've been thinking about what happens some time now, but didn't really know or find the info. Do I still pay the pool (if any) for the unique equipment before it burns? "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! They have a lot of way to put blood onto vampire, they need to bring a lot of vampires out, and they have very few crypt choice, since you have maximum 6 differents vampires in a circle.

Please read first paragraph as well... the rule is also intended for crypt cards. If it is a equipment with vast wealth... IMHO you must pay before it burns... you have to pay to put it in play...

I gather now that it's simply burned (instead of never coming up, like we played a couple of times), but still I don't know where in the rulebook it says so. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! You are aware that vampires are unique minions, correct? If so then [4.1] completely answers your question. Oookay, so the red text was part of the quote as well - it was hard to tell before. That does explain! I thought, 'till the end, that it was just your own addition. The text didn't seem rulebookish at all. Thanks everyone. > You are aware that vampires are unique minions, correct? > I'm well aware. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners! Thats why I put in red... the 1st paragraph just shows that vampires are to be treated as "unique cards" for this matter.

> wesile wrote: > Thats why I put in red... the 1st paragraph just shows that vampires are to be treated as "unique cards" for this matter. > Yah, it was just a bit confusing. Let me explain. Firstly the use of apostrophe confused me. It is not customary to use apostrophied abbreviations in informative text or instructions. The rest of the rulebook is very official in register, so that was confusing. Rulebooks seldom (when written in a serious and informative style) have helping points and tips in the midst of rules, so that's why I thought it was your addition to help me, or any possible newcomer with a 'basic' question like this. I'm used to quotes being marked as quotes, and any underlinings or bolds marked after the text (possible in brackets) as an addition by the quoter. That is basic procedure in academic writing and quoting. The very basic means to do this in an internet forum environment is to add QUOTE tags to the part of thext quoted. With this it is easy to avoid confusion. Obviously you know all of this, but that's just to explain why I was confused about your post. Yah, the information was there, but I just thought that it was an addition of yours in the red! So, my bad, in a way. Anyways, no harm done, and misunderstandings are exactly that. Thanks for the help, again! Now I know where to find the piece of rules. "Oh, to the Hades with the manners!
