We were playing last night and this question came up:
If an ally is using an equipment or card which isn't restricted to vampires (e.g. it reads minion) but the action has a blood cost, can the ally pay the cost in its life?
Example card:
Codex of the Edenic Groundskeepers
Type: Equipment
Cost: 1 pool
Unique equipment.
This minion gets -2 stealth when bleeding. This minion may bleed as a action that costs 1 blood; this action gets +3 bleed if the target Methuselah doesn't control a ready untapped minion.

Rafastio Ghoul can play cards that require thaumaturgy as a vampire with a capacity of 3. Any cost in blood is paid with her life. If a card would give her blood, give her life instead.
Or maybe the life as blood cost only works for thaumaturgy cards ?

I asked because there was a dot between the sentences and i wasn't sure if it was working only for thaumaturgy cards...

Rafastio Ghoul no longer says that. The latest version of the card text is just
Rafastio Ghoul can play cards requiring basic Thaumaturgy [tha] as a vampire with a capacity of 3. The rest is covered by the rulebook in section 1.6.3.

Ok for this one, but I believe that was an omission in the Rafastio Ghoul card text...
But the question is the same with the Herald of Topheth...

Demon with 5 life. 3 strength, 1 bleed, flight [FLIGHT].
The Herald may enter combat with a ready minion controlled by another Methuselah as a action. The Herald may play cards requiring basic Daimoinon [dai], Potence [pot] and/or Presence as a vampire with a capacity of 5. Any cost in blood is paid with his life. If a card would give him blood, give him life instead. If the Herald has less than 5 life during your untap phase, add 1 life. During your influence phase, burn 1 pool or burn the Herald.

If an ally can play a specific subset of cards 'as a vampire', then they can play that specific subset of cards and pay life where blood is required.
All other cards that require blood cannot be played by that ally.

Correct - and I'll make the cardtexts less ambiguous by removing that sentence from these cards.
Another similar one is Hide The Heart at the level. An ally attempts to act and Hide The Heart simply causes the action to fail. The reacting vampire doesn't even have to tap or pay any blood
The action ends (unsuccessfully). The acting minion may burn 1 blood to cancel this card as it is played. Only one Hide the Heart may be played at each action.
