This question might have been previously asked, but i have not been successful in locating the thread. Does the action/effect of Descent into Darkness count against the number of transfers you have during your influence phase? Descent into Darkness Type: Action Discipline: Obtenebration Cost: 1 blood +1 stealth action. [obt] Turn the acting vampire and any cards on him or her face down, out of play (breaking any temporary control effects). Put this card on him or her (in play). During your influence phase, move 2 blood to this face down vampire from the blood bank, and you can choose to burn this card to return the vampire to play, tapped. [OBT] As above, but the vampire is untapped when he or she returns to play. VTES is not for the faint of heart...especially when you don't have a enough blood. Prince Of Geneva

No. Similarly, tapping an Art Museum does not use up a transfer. Master: unique location. During your influence phase, you may tap this card to move 1 blood from the blood bank to a Toreador in your uncontrolled region.

You don't have to have transfers (say you've spent all of them, or you didn't pay for Leandro's ability) to be able to use "During your influence phase" effects.

Forhead

Just for clarification: The vampire that played Decent into Darkness is not in the uncontrolled region to begin with, so you can't you transfers to and/or from him/her/it. Correct? Isak Esbjörnsson Bjärmark

You beat me to it!! Yeah, i was looking at a form of pool gain. It seems my question has been answered. VTES is not for the faint of heart...especially when you don't have a enough blood. Prince Of Geneva

It is however a clever method to reliably play Legendary Vampire

Master phase: Villein/MT a bigcap to 1 Minion phase: Descent into Darkness at A few turns later, vampire comes back at full (or almost full) blood, gets Legendary Vampire then bleedzooka ensues. Static Virtue Master Master. Requires a ready Laibon. Choose a Laibon you control. If this Laibon was moved to your ready region during your last influence phase, then for every two capacity above 4 this Laibon has, you may move one Aye and one Orun from your hand or library to this Laibon. Otherwise, you may move one Aye or one Orun from your hand or library to this Laibon. Shuffle afterward Iniko, The Black Lion Guruhi Capacity: 9 Group: 4 Laibon: +1 stealth. Artist(s): Matt Mitchell Set(s): LoB:U Brutal Influence Action Potence Bleed at +1 bleed. When the action is announced, this vampire may tap X Orun on him or her to get an additional +X bleed. +1 stealth action. Tap X Orun on this vampire to move X blood from the bank to a younger Laibon in your uncontrolled region Do you guys think this is a good combo with Descent into Darkness?

> drstrange26 wrote: > Do you guys think this is a good combo with Descent into Darkness? > You only get two Orun out of it (and also two Aye), and you could have played one of those Orun instead of the Static Virtue. And note that you must get the Aye too - they're not optional. If you're only using the Orun, and only using them for the bleed, it's not generally the strongest move in the world. Bleed now and bleed next turn will often be more useful than bleed for two more next turn if you're playing quite a few Orun and Brutal Influence anyway, with bleed support. It's not unplayable, by any means, but it's not all that powerful. It's also worth remembering that one Orun burns when you successfully bleed for more than two.

It's not powerful to use Brutal Influence at basic strictly. But that's not the combo. The combo is resetting the state so that Static Virtue has a second chance at the target. So yeah, it's fine. Just figure out what you need that much Aye/Orun for and plan out OBT minions (or even better, Obtenebration masters) as an alternate to pull off Static Virtue. In your example, you could run Iniko as so. Drop any Discipline Master on him (10 cap), wait until you get your Static Virtue, Descent, ascend, Static Virtue up 3 Aye-3Orun. Now he's a minion with +1 vote and a perma"wake" in reserve. Then go have fun. EDIT: Now that I think about it, this is pretty sweet with Brutal Influence at Superior, considering you can Static Virtue more than once. It'd be a fast way to gain 6-6 or 9-9 Aye-Orun. Brutal Influencing only starts to be more interesting than Govern the Unaligned once its beyond 3 Orun. So getting to influence down 6 or 9 relatively quickly is sorta frightening. But it's also comboriffic, too. Still a frightening bloat engine if it goes off, but takes around 18-24 card slots for setup.

flaw: you'll need 8 more discipline cards to be able to hold 9 aye & 9 orun

My understanding is (assuming u had enough orun & aye in your library): you could put a Master:discipline card on Iniko (now a 10-cap), DiD & descend, ascend & play Static Virtue (move 3 O's & 3 A's onto Iniko). Next round, repeat the DiD & descend, ascend & play another Static Virtue (move another 3 O's & 3 A's onto Iniko). The 10-cap now has 12 O' &A's so 2 burn, but you can choose to burn 2 of the A's (now 6 O's & 4 A's). Next round, repeat it all again & result in selecting another 3 A's to burn. So by the 4th round Iniko should have 9 O's & 1 A. Admittedly you could've just played 2 Orun per round, so by the start of the same 4th round, Iniko would have 6 Oruns. Probably much simpler for a similar effect, really And yeah, this whole effort is only worthwhile if you're using Brutal Influence extensively at superior...

Static Virtue won't fetch Ayes from the ash heap (only hand or library). So you may either end up having to keep Aye in your hand when you don't want to, or having to include more than 9 in your deck. 10% of a deck is a LOT, and that percentage only gets higher if you play more Aye or a smaller deck.

Eg. you can play a 75 cards deck that is really a 40-cards deck. Prince of Paris, France Ratings Coordinator, Rules Director

How does Descent into Darkness interact with Perfectionist? Perfectionist Archetype. Put this card on a vampire you control. Once each turn, this vampire can gain 1 blood after performing a successful action during which no reaction cards are played. A vampire can have only one archetype. Vampire that is out of play can gain blood as evidenced by descent into darkness itself. Therefore merely being out of play doesn't make it incapable of receiving blood? Name: Descent into Darkness [Gehenna:C, POD:DTC] Cardtype: Action Cost: 1 blood Discipline: Obtenebration +1 stealth action.
