I was just wondering if Etrius can target himself with the "may steal
up to 3 blood from a Tremere vampire as a +1 stealth (D) action" text.
Most obvious application of this is with Perfectionist when Restricted
Vitae is in play. If anyone has some other ideas, that would be
interesting....
It's just good to know he may have access to a cardless action, even if
it has no net effect when self-directed.
Actually, I think I saw an Etrius wall/Restricted Vitae/Croc Tongue
deck on the newsgroup a while back. This perfectionist tech would be
useful there.

The Rulebook says it all:
6.2.2. Resolve Any Block Attempts
If the action targets another Methuselah (or something controlled by
another Methuselah), then the action is called directed.
So, the answer is no. You can't target yourself or something controlled
by you with (D) actions.

Sorry, Heikki, but that's an incorrect interpretation of the rulebook rule
on D actions.
You can (usually) take "D actions" at your own minions, except for entering
combat with them (explicitly disallowed by the rulebook). This turns the
actions into "undirected actions", even if there is a (D) symbol or the word
"directed" on the card.

Yes.

That's stated backwards.
From the same section: "As a convenience, when a card describes an action that
is typically directed at another Methuselah, the card's text will usually
include a (D) symbol as a reminder that the action is typically directed. "
The action's target determines whether the action is directed, not the other way
around.
If Etrius' action targets himself, then the action is undirected.
