I just got off the phone with a customer service representative from Wizards of the Coast......He had a few things to say: 1) The card backs on all of the cards are going to change. 2)The borders are NOT going to change on the library cards...because the different colors can be seen from the side of the deck (as with MAGIC cards) -instead, they are going to have black borders, but different backgrounds (like the vampire clan cards) more..............

Ziphiid

3) The next printing of the game will be identical to the original game....art and cards except for 4 cards (he did not know which ones) that they were FIXING. He said that they do not change cards based on the artwork..so they won't get rid of any of the gory stuff Yeah!!! more.....

Ziphiid

4)They are arranging an EXCHANGE system, where I can send in my current cards, and they will trade 1-for-1 for the new cards. He didn't have any details on when or how this would work as they are still working on it, but they will post it on the net when available. more....

Finally, I just wanted to say that this is extremely fair. The representative did not know if they would charge a handling fee or not, but if they exchange all my cards for the new ones, I will be very happy. This eliminates all the cardback problems. If you want to call customer service for yourself....206-624-0933 Once again a happy camper....BRYCE MILLER

I will be waiting for the official post before I get my hopes up. It just sounds too good to be true. OTOH, WotC probably has enough money to pull it off. Also... What will they be doing with the old Jyhad cards people send in? Will they be willing to exchange in the other direction for people still desperately trying to complete Jyhad sets? Or, will they just be destroying the old cards? If they decide to destroy the old cards, they will certainly become more valuble... _________________________________________________________________________ \\ \\\ \\\ \\\ \\\ David Kent dk...@capaccess.org \\\ \\\ \\\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ _\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\____\_

Yes, it may take time.. but REALLY.. what more can you POSSIBLY ask?? They are going out of the way for this one, and i'll gladly wait for the new cards to arrive. Although, there is now the mere possibility that cards with the Jyhad backs will mean more to the collectors.. i may keep my rares in light of the oppurtunity to make a few bucks.. Actually, it has not been decided yet whether there will be a card exchange program or not. However, I will certainly pass along any feedback on the question, which so far has been extremely positive. Ye gods - the amount of time and effort, not to mention postage, required to ship millions of cards back and forth... With this many people owning old cards, does anyone believe that the turnaround time for replacement will be less than, say, half a year? Maybe more? Dark Sovereigns comes out in August - who's going to want to ship their cards off to WoTC (where you, the customer, are "irrelevant") until November or December and WAIT that long to play with the new cards? I mean, what are they going to do - instruct everyone to make out a detailed list of every card they're sending, and then have someone go into the vault and hand-pick V:TES versions of all those cards? If even an eighth of the Jyhad print run gets sent back for replacement, that's 22.5 MILLION cards. Think about it. We're talking serious man-hours just to process the replacements, not to mention the cost of the cards themselves. Not changing the backs, now, THAT would be simple. Well, it's *something.* I'm still going to have to make a considerable investment of my time to catalog what I send (should I take advantage of it, which I doubt) and pack them for shipping. Then I will be unable to play Jyhad for the months it takes for the cards to get back to me. Then I'll need to rebuild my decks and resort the new cards. Overall, it still sucks. But it's sucks a lot less than not doing it. | If you've got a hot lead on a new | *--Joe--* | PC game, call the announce line at | js...@vt.edu | ** csi...@discus.ise.vt.edu ** | +-------------------------------------+---------------------------------- "Carnivores, oy!" -- Timon, TLK

Well then, please allow me to add my approval to the 'proposed' card exchange. I know that this is the only way that I will continue to invest in the Jyhad/V:TES game. I agree with the many outcries that different card backs will influence this great game in an undesirable way. As such, I can no longer justify spending my money to invest in expansions that will not be completely (and I mean _completely_!!!) compatable with my current investment (no matter how much I love this game...which is in the extreme). A 1-for-1 trade of my soon-to-be-obselete cards for the new, expansion-combatable cards would certainly remedy this unfortunate feeling and allow me to fully commit myself to the expansions and, therefore, the growth of the game in general (through new player interaction, investing money in a company I believe in, etc.) If you are counting votes in any way, please add mine to the exchange approval list. -- Jay Wagnon Jay.W...@m.cc.utah.edu (Where is Astrid Thomas when you need her?!? ;) )

If I were to try to trade in cards, I wiould just wait until teh new edition comes out and trade the cards I want to replace 1-1 for the new versions because there will be many people who think it is COOL to have the old backs. Look at how much people pay for black bordered lands. Lands for God sake! People will want teh originals, so if I want to trade I would wait for the new edition and the new "collectors". --"The devil inside me, but at least then I can stay warm" ---Buffalo Tom \ / \ / \ / \ / \/ for \/ endetta "They were low on knives and other weapons and this worried the priest." -C.S. I'd like to put in a vote of positive feedback, but I'd like to go in the other direction. I want the old card backs so i can finish my set!!

I would vote for a card exchang program. The only problem I have is that WoTC is so far shown that they are notorious for not listening to their customers. I would be greatly surprised if this actually came to pass, but I will not be holding my breath.
