A friend and I recently got into Jyhad, and have really enjoyed playing it. We have a few questions though: 1). can you play Action modifier cards (cards that give bonuses to bleed, for example) AFTER block declaration? For example, Player A attempts to bleed B, asking B if B is going to block. B says he will not block, can A THEN play Conditioning, or something similar? It doesn't mention this in the rulebook. 2). Do vampires tap as a result of going to turpor? 3). By playing a master skill card on a vampire that already has that skill, thus giving it Superior ability, does that increase it's blood capacity? 4). Why does Computer Hacking have a (D) next to it (I know (D) stands for Directed Action). CH is an action card; and bleeding is ALREADY directed. Isn't it redundant? Don't you play CH on on eof your ready vampires, and then that vampire gets +1 bleed when he attempts to bleed (and after the attempt, CH is burned)? 5). Must actions cards be used immediatly? For example, can I play Computer Hacking on one of my ready vampires, wait two turns, then decide to bleed, and at that point (after that bleed) the CH would be burned? Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. I appreciate it! Tyrus

Sure. This is what makes the Dominate based bleed cards better than the Presence based bleed cards (which are all actions rather than action modifiers). >2). Do vampires tap as a result of going to turpor? Nope. However, unless a vampire is directly attacked (say, by a bums's rush or something), then he's either done an action or blocked an action in order to get in the fight that torporized hime - so he's tapped anyway, and stays that way when he hits torpor. Unless the vampire is paralyzed, however, he gets to untap in the untap phase even while he's in torpor! >3). However, WotC has ruled that the bleed cards with the (D) mean that you can bleed people who aren't your prey. Silly. >Don't you play CH on on eof your ready >vampires, and then that vampire gets +1 bleed when he attempts to bleed >(and after the attempt, CH is burned)? That's exactly how it works. >5). Nope, they must be used immediately. Your vampire takes the action of computer hacking by playing that card, and actions always get resolved right away. The trading-cards hierarchy has a place set aside for all trades, sales, and auctions, the rec.games.trading-cards.marketplace hierarchy. I go looking for cards there, and so do most people. This newsgroup is reserved for posts discussing the game. These conventions are set up so that we can efficiently read netnews. Please abide by them. I sent Greg Zuvich <ju...@gladstone.uoregon.edu> a polite note pointing this out, and was told to buzz off. I don't encourage sabotage of obnoxious sellers/auctioneers, but I do encourage everyone who has bid in his auction to retract their bids. Lately I've noticed a pronounced rise in the number of sale/auction postings in this group, especially by sellers who have been trying to sell/auction their cards for overly high prices. To you sellers: Try lowering your prices. People *ARE* reading your sale/auction announcements -- you're just asking too much. -- Tom Doehne doe...@cse.ogi.edu

Sir, I'm not quite sure I understand the necessity of of this *dire* warnign about our little corner of the net...Personally I am loathe to even enter the over 2000 posted message area of the rec.marketplace because of the overwhelming # of Magic messages posted therein...I actually find it very convenient to be able to come to this area for such information...By your logic we should also not trade cards here either as that action is not *game discussion*...While I don't necessarily agree with the slippery slope argument presented by Greg, I don't see the need to scold anyone...The basic premise of the net IMO is the information should be free, as long as it is not harmful...under this I see no reason to discourage anyone from auctioning within these hallowed halls... -=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-= Death to extremists Rob -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

It doesn't mention this in the tiny rulebook, so I thought I would ask here.. What actions cause a minion to tap? If you equip a minion, play an action card on a minion, or play a political card on a minion, do they tap? I know hunting and attempting to bleed, and blocking (and going into combat) causes them to tap. What about the others? Thanks! Tyrus

What about the others? All actions tap the minion. Some actions (MovingSlowBody) untap as part of the action, and will leave the Minion untapped. 1) Announce the action. 2) Tap the acting minion. 3) Avoid being Blocked :-) 4) Resolve the action. (Pay cost for actions that have costs.) L. Scott

I don't see lots of (D) bleed cards around here (a few to keep people on their toes, but not many). Still, it's just plain stupid to tap out anyway. >It's really silly. You have to worry about other players in a multi-player game. Horror of horrors! That's the POINT of those sorts of cards. The game is not designed to restrict you to only attacking one player (your prey). The game is designed so that your main concern is your prey, but you can interfere all you want in other people's plans, and you can negotiate with someone and back it up with force if they cheat you. The flip side of this: there are other people that can mess with you. If you want a two player game, go back to Magic. This one is truly a group game, and you're never alone until you've killed off everyone else... | If you've got a hot lead on a new | *--Joe--* | PC game, call the announce line at | js...@vt.edu | ** csi...@discus.ise.vt.edu ** | +-------------------------------------+---------------------------------- "Carnivores, oy!" -- Timon, TLK
