Bindusara, Historian of the Kindred, who has Ecstatic Agony played on him, enters combat. Before range, he plays Weather Control and takes one damage. Can he now play Lessons in the Steel in order to strip his opponent from his/her defences in order to give some serious spanking or does it have to be the opposing minion that inflicts the damage? And similarly, does he get the +1 strength next round from Ecstatic Agony? If [yes] and [yes], the old bookworm is going to see some action...at last. -Antero ------ Ecstatic Agony [FN:R2, Anarchs:PAG] Cardtype: Action Discipline: Auspex +1 stealth action. [aus] Put this card on this acting vampire. Each round of combat, this vampire gets +X strength, where X is the amount of damage successfully inflicted on this vampire in the previous round of this combat. [AUS] As above, and once per combat, this vampire may press to continue combat if any damage has been successfully inflicted on him or her in the current round. -and- Lessons in the Steel [BH:R] Cardtype: Combat Discipline: Auspex & Fortitude [aus][for] Only usable when damage is successfully inflicted on this vampire. Look at the opposing minion's controller's hand, and this vampire gets an optional press this round. A vampire can play only one Lessons in the Steel each round. [AUS][FOR] As above, and that Methuselah discards a card of your choice. ------

oh, and the ruling itself as quoted in the ruling i posted a link to before. :) http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=34E85428.167E%40wizards.com ""Inflict" typically means "to the opposing minion/retainer" (see Pulled Fangs). So these cards would not nullify the self-damage of those weapon strikes. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) Official VtES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. "inflicted on this vampire" cannot mean "inflicted on the opposing minion/retainer". [ quoted text not captured ]
