I've been tinkering pretty heavily with Animalism-based long range combat
decks recently due to the preponderance of weenie potence rush going on.
(and because as Nosferatu Antitribu Newsletter editor, I owe it to you, my
constituants, to research Obfuscate, Animalism, and Potence very heavily)
What are people's opinion of Terror Frenzy as a tourney-viable card?
Text repeated below for ease of discussion.

My experience is that it's a truly great card that you not often see at
tournaments (why I don't know, maybe it's a metagame issue). I like boht
inferior and superior and usually you include them in a deck mostly to use
inferior or mostly for the superior. I had a nice Goratrix deck though,
where I played it twice in combat, one of each level, since I could use his
ability to gain back spent blood =) Dragos is also great for this, but I
think that for him superior version is the most useful generally. In a
combat deck where you load lots of combat cards it's really nice to have TF
played at superior...where they need to spend an extra blood for maneuvers,
additional strikes, strike cards, presses etc! In a weenie animalism deck
the inferior is far better though, combined with Aid from Bats and Carrion
Crows....maybe Taste of Vitae sometimes to fill up since TF's cost is big
for a weenie after a few combats ;)

Current text is "Opposing vampire burns an additional blood when playing combat
cards this combat." at superior - "burns", not "pays".
Current text (superior) also says "A vampire may play only one Terror Frenzy at
superior each combat."

It's an excellent card. The inferior is simply the inverse of Drawing out
the Beast (without the +1 strength, better yet), and it removes gun decks
(and Sniper Rifle) from the picture entirely, something that any long-range
deck definitely needs to worry about. TF/Aid from Bats is a superb two-
card, one-blood defensive strategy requiring only inferior Animalism. It's
not perfect, of course, but nothing is. TF/.44 Magnum is even better. :)
All you really have to do is watch the number of people bitching about
Cailean at any given point, because really, isn't that basically what HE
does, except without the equipment and press bits? =)
All that said, it costs a blood and that's why I generally avoid it. The
big advantage Animalism decks have is the "free" aspect; the only transient
cards that cost them blood are Shepherd's Innocence, Song in the Dark,
Terror Frenzy, and now Crimson Fury. Of those four, two provide effects
that you're not likely to see more than once per game (if that), and one is
sufficiently expensive that you aren't likely to play it much. This means
you can get maximum use out of your Blood Dolls, as a minion with zero
blood is still "operational"; if its hunt is blocked, it can still play
Carrion Crows/Aid from Bats, doing damage while surviving. =)
However, there's something to be said for combining it with judicious Taste
of Vitae; TF/Crows/Bats/Taste is a net gain of two with superior ANI. And
if you REALLY want to splat blood off people, TF/Assault Rifle, with
occasional Tastes, will do the trick. Now you just need to figure out how
to pay for the Assault Rifles *and* make them effective at the same time.
;) (At least with the Nossies you can Disguised Weapon.)

I've just recently built a Disguised .44 deck that uses Terror Frenzy
to ensure long range for blurring goodness. I felt it was time to
give all those POT/VIC/PRO Agg decks the finger.
And yes I know they also have long range strikes as well. But our
Metagame currently has lethal close range. I'm sure it'll change in a
couple of weeks <g>

<sigh>, this isn't on the official rulings and errata page. I humbly
request that it be added to avoid further confusion. :-)
It's updated in Monger, however note that ELDB and the official
White-Wolf page currently doesn't mention the new text of Terror
Frenzy.

It's in the official card list on the White Wolf site.
As printed text, it doesn't qualify as errata or ruling.
It was listed in the "text migration" article posted here a few times
(and archived on Lasombra's site).

I used about 4 of them in the weenie Animalism deck I took to Toronto a few
months back. The deck won the tourney, though I never used the Terror Frenzy
cards defensively as I had originally planned.
Used in conjunction with Carrion Crows and Aid from Bats, it's easily cycled
or held if you are likely to face an Immortal Grapple deck.
(IG-based decks have been the thing I fear and plan defensively against
*most* lately. I seem to plan for them moreso than planning for bleed or
votes. They are proving to be much more prevalent than they were, but I
think honestly that the truth is that I plan my tourney decks this way
because POT-rush style decks *scare* me far more than any other deck.)
The idea of course is to set the range using TF at inferior. Barring Thrown
Gates or Breath of Dragon, I figure that you'd be unlikely to see too many
ranged strikes. Most combat decks want to do you in at close range and this
succeeds in jamming both their strikes and maneuvers. It's a beautiful thing
when Jacko rushing with a Sword of Judgment is knocked empty into torpor by
Vliam Andor with ANI, Carrion Crows, Terror Frenzy and a few Aid from Bats.
The blood cost was somewhat detrimental, as all my guys were less than 4
capacity, but seeing as they were rarely hit by any opposing vampire, this
did not prove to be much of an issue.
Cheers,
WES
