Hi =) I'm a pretty new V:tes player. I've been lurking this NG for a couple of month, and I thought it could be time to ask you about a deck. I'm building a tremere/gargoyle deck, working as follow: The tremeres create gargs with Fortitude, or bleeds. The gargs tap to protect Tremeres, or use Armor of Terra. Then they bleeds with Force of Will (+stealth or daring the dawn). Eventually, (if they've AoT on), I can untap them with Freak Drive and let them do something else, i.e. a Restoration. I can also let gargs go torpor and rescue them with the other vamps. Untapped Tremeres are ready to deflect. The main problem is I think the deck is too much blood-draining; gargs costs, AoT costs, rescuing from torpor costs, and I have no idea on how recover all that blood. Restoration and Giant's Blood can do, but I think I need something more. If you guys could give me a clue i'll start to plan the deck. Thanks =)

I also suppose you want to run some kind of combat module to protect the Tremere and in that case Taste of Vitae is the obvious choice. If you play both regular Tremere and their Antitribu counterparts, you can play dual hunting grounds. Add in a Palatial Estate and you got quite some bloodflow going. The best suggestion I can give you is to think up a deck, post it here and wait for the comments. Welcome, by the way.

[ quoted text not captured ] Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. If your Gargoyles are bleeding with inferior Force of Will, then they are paying a blood and taking 2 damage (agg or not) to bleed for 2. Your only advantage is they can take another action (hunt or Restoration, I'd assume) and then play the Force of Will at inferior. Wouldn't it be much simpler to bleed for 2 with Computer Hacking, bleed retainers or Laptops? You could still do the Armor of Terra + Daring the Dawn trick or just use Vic stealth. Either that or give your Gargoyles Dominate and bleed at stealth with Viceratika. Matt Morgan

You'll get a fair ammount of damage from the FoW+DtD, so you might use that counters to pay the expensive Vis cards or simply the freak drives. I'll also suggest you to add some Dawn Operations and disarms. You know, this will make them think twice before daring to attempt to block you.

Mmmh... a little question: if I play Dawn Op, i'm blocked and then use Conscripted statue at superior, does the statue aggravated damages?

No. Dawn Operation's effect only applies to the block combat. With Conscripted Statue, the block combat does not occur. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. No. Dawn Op: "If this action is blocked, all damage inflicted to all vampires in the resulting combat is aggravated. Any vampire attempting to block may now choose not to block." Conscripted Statue (superior): "Combat does not occur. Put this card into play. This card represents an ally with 2 life and 2 strength. This ally enters combat with the blocking minion. This ally gets 1 optional press during the combat. Burn this card at the end of combat or if the combat is canceled." The combat resulting from the block never occurs, so the Dawn Op has no effect. The CS starts a new, distinct combat. (Ditto with, eg, Dawn Op + Psyche!) --Colin McGuigan

Well, there are several strategies to build a deck using Gargs and Tre, but i think the best ones follow the initial simplest idea: bleed with Tremere/Dominate and use the Gargs to protect the Tre. Bleed with Govern the Unaligned. If you're blocked Tap a slave Gargoyle and enter combat with Vis/Pot/For. Try to use also the Gargs to block and engage combat especially with your predator. After all, they have For and aren't affected by Kiss of Ra! ;) To manage more effectivelly your blood and pool, use several Blood Dolls (4 or 5), 1 Hunting Ground (Tre or !Tre), Restoration, Palatial Estate (on a Gar for Stealh access), Giant's Blood, Powerbase:Montreal, The Rack (you have intercept and combat capabilities), other Powerbases, Arcane Library (for Tremere), etc. Plenty of options here, and many more available to protect your pool through intercept and several bleed deflection and reduction cards. Try to build a deck with card quatities and choices, and post it here for comments. That will help you a lot. .- Luis Duarte (Portugal)
