This may sound like a silly question, but it may come up in a deck idea I have (something I thought of as I was joining the triple-0 club at the NE qualifier :) ). If Magdelena Schaefer plays Wind Dance at superior, does she burn 1 blood (for playing the card), or 2 blood (for each strike: dodge) ?

[ quoted text not captured ] I think she would only burn 1... The only strike that requires tham is the first strike... the second strike is gained from the first card... If Antoinette DuChamp plays acrobatics at sup, she doesn't have to pay another blood to do the additional strike... I would like to hear the idea, the only way I could think of using wind dance is just to survive to the second round... The only thing I thought of cool was a weenie THA rush deck with Ghoul Retainers to do all the combat... Meat hooks, ivory bow, and maybe 1 improved flame throwers... I believe if the Ghoul Retainer strikes with the meat hook you still get the press from it... Just wind dance your way around everything... The deck would be called... Wait for it... ... ... ... Meat the Dancing Hookers

THA AUS deck... then you can CANCEL your additional strike with Primal Instincts (Nothing on the card says you can't cancel your additional strikes) and get an additional strike... Ack, that's good... THA AUS with improvised flame thrower deck... (needs some prem aggro weapon, since a good portion of the deck would be dodges) Got so much dodge that range strikes won't be a problem... (only 'can't dodge' range strike is from gargolyes i think) Hmm, wonder if it'll work... Damn wonder where i can get like 15 wind dances...

My question is... if you play Wind dance at superior... can I play a dodge strike cards as my additional strike? just to burn cards if needed... you know, another wind dance at minor... Bond with the mountain for the press...

THA AUS with improvised flame thrower deck... that would work easier with ghoul retainers and good ol' "do not replace" dodges, for instance =)

[ quoted text not captured ] Magdelena's problem comes on "using the strike", not on "playing the strike card" (see recent thread on the difference). Each time she uses a strike that requires Thaumaturgy, she burns an additional blood. So she burns a blood for the first dodge (assuming combat wasn't ended by S:CE first, before the dodge could be "used"). And, if combat lasts that long, she burns a blood for the second dodge as well (when it is used). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. (and that obf/cel first strike + no dodge card) > > Hmm, wonder if it'll work... Damn wonder where i can get like 15 wind > dances... And if you play superior wind dance you have already declared your additional strike (like when you manuver with a gun or a thrown gate) so you can´t play another strike card.

To clarify, if the first strike doesn't end the combat by itself (that is, if the opponent doesn't play S:CE or Aggravated Damage/Rotschrek or something), then the combat _will_ last that long and Magdelena _will_ need to burn a second blood. This raises the question of whether Magdelena's card text describes an effect or a cost. And if a cost, how does the issue of her attempting to use Wind Dance at superior work if she has only one Blood? Fred

[ quoted text not captured ] she can also usewind dance if she has zero blood since it is not a cost but a burn blood effect.

> I would like to hear the idea, the only way I could think of using wind dance > is just to survive to the second round... Well, surely, the idea doesn't *center* around Wind Dance. Thaumaturgy is a distant third in the discipline spread of the crypt (and frankly, I'd rather have Heinrick Schlempt to share the low-cap-with- Thaum duties with Roreca but I don't have one of him). And the deck doesn't want to be in combat. But, of course, sometimes you get into combat and a Theft isn't going to help against that 3 points of Agg damage... I'm a big fan of using Absorb the Mind to dodge for Dominate, and a free dodge for Thaumaturgy works well in the deck concept.
