is an ally, he or she does not untap is normal during his or her next
untap phase. A minion may only play one OTQV between his or her untap
phases.
Shattered Mirror
Reaction
Only usable when this vampire successfully
blocks an ally or younger vampire bleeding you.
[dem] Put this card on the acting minion and end the action (with no
combat). The minion with this card gets -1 bleed. He or she may burn it
as an action that costs 1 blood. A minion may have only one Shattered
Mirror.
[DEM]: As above, and this reacting vampire doesn't tap for successfully
blocking the action.
COMBAT
Glancing Blow
Combat
Do not replace until your next untap phase.
Prevent 1 damage from the opposing minion's strike.
ALLY
Corrupt Construction
1 blood pool
[vic] Ghoul with 1 life, 0 strength, 0 bleed.
Regular When the construction enters play, you may remove from the game
any number of ally, retainer, or vampire cards from your ash heap or
hand. The Construction gains one life for each card removed in that
way. The Construction gets +1 strength for each life counter it has.
During your untap phase, the Construction burns 1 life.
[VIC] As above, and the Construction has an additional life.
Hexaped
1 pool. Tremere antitribu Ally with 3 life, 1 str, 0 bleed.
Hexaped may give a link counter to any Meth as a +1 stealth (D) action.
Remove Hexaped from the game if that action succeeds. The Tremere
antitribu who recruited the Hexaped gets +1 bleed and +1 stealth when
bleeding the Methuselah with that link counter.
Young Bloods
Ally. 2 pool.
Unique mortal with 3 life, 2 strength, 0 bleed.
The Young Bloods can burn 2 blood from a tapped vampire with a capacity
less than 8 as a plus 1 stealth (D) action. If a vampire controlled by
another Methuselah burns the Young Bloods in combat or as an action, he
or she gains 2 blood.
EQUIPMENT
Blade of Enoch
1 blood pool
Unique melee weapon.
Strength +1 damage each strike, only usable by a vampire with capacity
above 5. Damage inflicted by this weapon a Brujah or Brujah antitribu
is aggravated. This vampire with capacity above 5 is immune to the
effects of Frenzy cards.
Codex of the Damned
0 cost. Unique Equipment.
While the bearer has Thaumaturgy, he or she is considered to have
superior Thaumaturgy. Each time the bearer with Thaumaturgy commits
diablerie, each other ready vampire you control gains 1 blood, and each
one younger than the victim may recieve a Master:discpline card from
your ash heap, hand or library (shuffle afterward)
Heart of Nizchetus
Unique Equipment. 1 pool.
During your untap phase, if the bearer is ready, you may draw up to
three cards from your library and then move the same number of cards
from your hand to the bottom of your library.
Helicopter
Equipment, 3 pool. Vehicle.
When a minion equips with the Helicopter, tap it. After resolving a
successful action, this minion may tap the Helicopter to untap. A
minion can only have one vehicle.
Martinelli's Ring
Unique equipment.
Cards that require Malk, Malkavian antitribu, Dem or Ser cannot be
placed on this minion.
Burn any cards on the minion that require any of those clans or
disciplines.

Anyway, I don't see why one spoiler should be erased rather than another,
even if it comes from a playtester (at that point he could very well have

Why the h*ll is base Galbraith a Lasombra? Was she masquerading as one

I presume there is an RPG reason for the change, probably much as you
suggest, working her way up disguising herself as a Lasombra (more
political clout and toys to play with) until becoming strong enough to
snatch power. I don't see why the outrage at her base being Lasombra,
though, there are already a few vampires who switch clans between base
and advanced (Goatrix, Marcus Vitel, Maria Stone, Petaniqua and
Valerius Maior). Most of the big caps do have all superior inclan
disciplines, except Petaniqua, who doesn't even have basic presence.

Depends, a Lasombra Cardinal with PRE in a voting deck is no small
thing, meshing well with the others with PRE for a very strong high-cap
voting deck. More than likely, though, you're playing her to be able to
merge her so you can get a Regent with +2 bleed. It's unfortunate that
few of the Lasombra clan toys are of any use to her once she merges,
though (Camarilla Vitae Slave if you're lucky enough to own one, the
hunting ground, which probably isn't a big desire, Political Seizure
and Politial Struggle). And none of her clanmates have obtenebration,
making the stealth option rather iffy too. Still, she can become a
pretty scary bleed monster as it is ... merged, Pulse of the Canaille,
Palla Grande, superior DOM and PRE ... definitely want Revelations out
before you bleed though :P
Or just use her for her superior discipline spread and don't worry
about her clan.
She certainly won't be a staple in many Lasombra decks, on that I do
agree, but then I don't think she's meant to be.

Yes, Galbraith imposed as a Lasombra for the most (if not all) her
reign since being a Lasombra was more acceptable then being a filthy

Wonder if they'll print the Tzim who imposed as her for a while, a 4

Ok, my words were a bit harsh, it wasn't supposed to be an outrage,
more stunned confusion, and it's not the fact that she "switches clan"
that bugs me, I love the way they did with Vitel.
I just couldn't see a V:TES-reason for the switching, so I figured it
had to have a V:TM-reason, it's just that I had never heard anything
about Galbraith acting Lasombra (btw, wonder how she explained the
presence of a reflection...)
I have no problems with her discipline spread in it self, I just can't
see it as a "lasombra" discipline spread, in that I can't see her in
Lasombra decks*, she'd do just as well as a !Tor from the start. But as
there are V:TM-reasons for her being Lasombra, I'm cool!
Sorry for the aggressive tones, it was unintentional.
I'm still questioning it a bit though... ;)
*The Lasombra decks I've seen and played (truth be told quite few, as
I'm not part of a very big community) have all used Obt to a fairly
large extent, usually enough to warrant The Path of Night as it's a
rather blood-heavy discipline. This has been true for pretty much all
incarnations, including Combat (Rush or Intercept), Bleed (Stealth or
Bn'B) and toolboxes...
Sure individual Lasombras find their way outside of clan-decks, but
since we're all fairly new here we usually play clan-focused decks...

Wow.
This, to my mind, represents a distinct change in design direction.
"Master, 2 pool, Search your library for a card and take it into your
hand, discard + shuffle" has been notable by its absenced from the game
ever since Jyhad became the second Deckmaster game. I'm fairly sure I
recall that in the initial discussion of the game when new it was noted
that this was intentional as well (Jyhad having been designed
deliberately to emphasise management of game resources other than card
draws; hence cards like elder library manipulating hand size more than
draws)
Anyway, back to the present: we now have clan-free, discipline free,
reusable, unrestricted deck search...Wow!
I honestly cannot think of a single deck of mine that won't be freeing
up a slot for one of these.
(well, OK, if I ever make a turbo deck or a goodnight sweet prince
deck, then probably not)
The number of times I'd have been able to lunge for an extra oust in
the end game if I'd had a Wake when needed, a stealth card when needed,
a conditioning when needed, replace the Majesty I just used... etc, etc
This combined with a card that generates a potential for an unheard of
density of rush actions in a deck makes me feel that the game is going
to be changing in some very fundamental ways in the coming months.
I'm inclined to actually purchase boosters of this set - and I've not
bought boosters for V:TES since before it was V:TES.
Its a shakeup that seems big to me, but seems to preserve the nature of
the game (I am in the "not impressed" camp regarding NoR, from a purely
conceptual stance) and add some renewed interest (new concepts, cards
that invigorate "second string" concepts)
So far only one card (breaking the wall) has struck me as "wrong" in
some way (belongs to be a malkavian card, without the excuse of
malkavian strangeness its just stupidity, IMO) and I'm a picky sod;
thats very good going.

Also, speaking of Helena, she's quite a nice add to a melinda deck, if
you can manage to pull out 2 10-caps and merge one of them into being
infernal.... DOM AUS PRE, a splash of obt for stealth, and you've got
yourself quite a voter (even better if you end up with Rise of Nephtali
in play)...

Mmmm, I really wasn't overwhelmed with how good a card it was, per se,
just that its a card of type not seen before (what I think of as
"absolute deck control" - no restrictions on what you can search for,
don't have to show anyone what you went and got, doesn't immediately
play the searched for card, not an action to be blocked etc etc)
With my past (having been a reasonably competetive M:TG player back
long ago, fallen empires era...) Heavy deck search being absent has
been one of the defining things about Jyhad/V:TES, and to be honest its
always been a kind of grudgingly accepted annoyance for me. So to now
have it added, well it opens back up a lot of (large) combo decks that
were previously rediculously untennable, which now might be made to
work their magic, because you can plug the gap to get the combo to go
off next round...
(thinking in a home-play way, not implying suddenly high-tide type
decks will sweep tournaments!)

First. Isn't this the result of the design your vtes card poll thingy
on ww's website, and if so. Aren't we the ones to blame? :)
Second. I don't think it will have that much of an impact. First you
have to get it into play, and since fortschritt is gehenna only you
have to play lots of a card that will suck ones you get it intop play.
Then you need uncon vamps to remove from game to use it. And last you
need good cards to find that will win you the game.
The effect looks very strong, but I can't find a way to break it yet.

Play Proxy Kissed and draw Deflection to replace it.
Note also that getting a Deflection in your hand during your influence
phase is never going to be a fundamental of the game, unless you count
every particular effect as a fundamental, in which case every new card
in every expansion (with the possible exception of Pack Tactics)
changed the game in fundamental ways.

fair enough
i do however, consider the effect that allows you get the card of your
choice in your hand as an unblockable non-action, during your influence
phase to be something new. And yes, fundamental, like Anthelios.
wether it be delaying tactics, a wake, a deflection or whatever...
of course you can play something or discard your barrens. But until now
the card you drew was determined by A) luck and B) your deckbuilding skills.
Now its regulated by the burnage of transfers etc and i guess you need
to include the wanted card in your deck.
Maybe you should print an event that allows you go get a card that was
not in your deck to your hand. For balance you can require that the meth
wears a silly purple hat for the rest of the game.
Seriously, i am clearly in the minority and if you like the card,
hooray, more power to you. I just read it and posted a gut reaction. As
noted, I can be an old fart at times.

I am sorry if I have upset you. Its just that a random draw does, in
fact, sometimes result in getting a card that is different from what you
would have hoped. Luck and deckbuilding. See also "point of game".

It also sometimes gets you the card you need. Knowing for an absolute
fact that my prey has a Deflection does a *lot* to change how I play my

The card text is ok. It is what could have been read on the card that
was sold on e-bay already.
The balancing factor may or may not force people to forfeit the card
altogether.

This card is the direct result of the "Design a card by Committee!"
poll on the White Wolf VTES BBS. It is apparently what happens when a
bunch of yahoos who hang out on the VTES BBS all vote on what a card
should do. Including me. I think in the long run, I ended up supporting
this idea over the one that was somehow supposed to punish weenie

No, it's not. That was an event card that affected the influnence
phase, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, I believe the thread
is long gone from the forum so I can't go find the details. But
suffice it to say this is not it.

Oops! I didn't realize this *was* an event card. I take that
back.
Somehow I had remembered something distinctly different about the
details of that card. Like something unexpected changed between
the poll and the card that came out in the end. Unfortunately,
it will take someone with a better memory than mine to shed
light on it.
As far as I care, it looks like an interesting card to me and
just fine. I expect it won't be that popular for the same
reason Anthelios is not that popular: it's a card to carry in
your deck that gives the same advantage to all, rather than to
just you.

The resulting card's "effect on the influence phase/transfers" was the
ability to burn one of your uncontrolled vampires to search your
library for a card and put it in your hand, with the caveat that
playtesting might change the specifics.
Pretty darn close to Inconnu Tutelage, I'd say.

In my experience, Anthelios is very popular. OK, not quite "Dreams of the
Sphinx" popular. But probably the most popular of the Event cards, right up
there with The Unmasking and Dragonbound. It works very well in any
"additional master phase action" deck, so much so that people have had
discussions about whether it's the 'broken' component of those decks or not.
I think Inconnu Tutelage may be pretty popular too. It seems harder to take
advantage of than Anthelios at first glance, since you have to have an
uncontrolled vamp and 4 transfers to burn to use it... but there are ways to
get additional transfers every turn too, so...

With a random draw, is it possible that you won't draw Inconnu Tutelage,
and that you won't have a vampire you want to burn in your uncontrolled
region?
And is it possible that while you're drawing Deflection or Delaying
Tactics, your predator is using it to great effect to draw cards too?
As is your prey? You know, what with it being usable by every
Methuselah and not just the one playing it. Thus giving you two people,
in the general case, who are using it, relative to just one use for you.
The "point of the game" also includes subtle and non-obvious balancing
factors that make some cards trickier than they look. The fact that
Inconnu Tutelage is so open and usable by other Methuselahs means it's
somewhat harder to hyper-optimize your deck in a way that other
Methuselahs wouldn't be able to take advantage of most likely. An
example might be a hypothetical card that allowed all Methuselahs to get
allies or retainers from your library - a great many decks wouldn't be
able to benefit from that, while you could hyper-optimize your Shambling
Hordes deck, or your War Ghoul deck, to get a great benefit with a
relatively low risk of other people taking advantage of the same
benefit.

I think it's good, and I like it a lot. But it's not that huge.
There are quite a few decks that simply don't care about it - weenie
decks, grabbing vampires from all sorts of clans; star vampire decks,
with a bunch of screaming fans from various clans; any deck focused
around specific cross-clan discipline combos.
In the early game, it's a mini Minion Tap with an influence phase bonus,
but in the late game, it's a poor man's Minion Tap. So if you stuff
your deck with it, you'll be great early in the game, but wishing you
had Minion Taps later.
Oh also, Minion Tap is "vampires you control", not a ready vampire. A
minor, but potentially significant, trade-off.

It is very good for monoclan with good midcaps like Tremere.

It was one of the good flaws to take in the RPG as there was no real
downside except for bad hair days. :)

Which one was that?

I don't think this is really going to be an issue for this card. If you
play X copies of it in your deck, X-1 copies can be used as discard
fodder for the ability it grants once it's in play.

Except the Tremere already have things like Arcane Library and
Wasserschloss Anif.
And access to Govern the Unaligned.
I thought of replacing the Wasserschloss Anif in my Tremere midcap deck
with this, but decided against it since Wasserscloss can be used to
bring an older vampire into play using blood from a younger one, and is
also more permanent. (And since it's an intercept-based deck, I don't
really care much that people can try to burn the castle.)
I think Grooming the Protege is much better for higher-capacity decks
that don't have access to Dominate, such as a Tzimisce bruise deck.

I can't remember the specifics right now, but there were a couple of
suggestions which meddled with the number of transfers you got. I
vaguely remember one giving you an extra transfer to big vampires (which
no-one got too excited about), and another which restricted transfers
based on how many vampires you had out, that sort of thing.
There were various whoops from players about how fabulous this was as a
weenie hoser. The thing was, if you wanted to play it early it needed
to be drawn early, sort of like a reverse Info Highway. Except Info
Highway, in the right sort of deck can be used well in the mid game too
- drawing blood back off vampires when you're using Govern, say.
Whereas this basically only annoyed weenie decks right at the start and
if you drew it too late, you might as well not have bothered. It also
didn't do anything to Clown Cars, because they largely don't care too
much about transfers.
So it wasn't a great weenie defence, but a lot of people seemed to see
"OMG TEH ANTIWEENIEZOR LOLOLOL ROFLCOPTER" before actually thinking
about it.

There's nothing stopping you using Grooming the Protege AND Govern the
Unaligned, of course. If bringing out a bundle of vampires early on is
your thing, combo-ing the two is just fine.
It also gives you some potential reliability in your strategy when you
find that your prey has some annoying blocker to stop you
bloating/bringing out minions with Govern, even with Mirror Walk. Or
when you find a prey with Wash and a predator with Bleeding the Vine,
you still have the Governs.

It's in no way "shit hot" or "game breaking", but it does (in
combination with the "govern down" cards) allow a player who is using
bigger cap vamps a way to compete with the weenie hordes insofar as
actions is concerned. (assuming you get your big vamp/rockstar)
out first. I honestly see alot of the new cards being made as a way to
bring high caps back into the realm of tournament viability. Eze was a
great example of this (Eze founders of the ebony kingdom, untaps and
enchants down, transfer X and any minion up to 10 cap comes out for 4
pool, one blood and 2 actions) I personally like the idea of making
high caps more viable in a tournament as it allows for more creativity
in effective deck design.
Just my opinion

Well I see a few allready strong archetypes that can use it, esp. Ventrue Lawfirm.
In combination with DOM you will have your vampires ready in no time AND at no pool cost.
Just an example:
Turn2 : Influence out Emerson Bridges
Turn3 : Grooming the Protege on Sir Walter Nash
Govern down to Sir Walter
Freak Drive, Fill up with Vote and Voter Cap
Influence out Sir Walter and have allready 3 transfers on Timothy Crowley.
That´s really good in my opinion.
