Dear White Wolf: As others have mentioned here in the newsgroup, V:TES tournaments held within larger gaming conventions have been one of the primary mechanisms for the continued visibility of our game. I doubt that I'd be involved in V:TES today if not for the tournaments at Origins (in the US). Since 1996, I've played a total of only 3 V:TES games, one each year at Origins. I played awfully, only Draft, but I played, and after last year's tournament, I decided to delve into the game just a bit more. In other words, Origins kept me in the game. My concern is that, with WotC no longer owning our game, we may not see V:TES at Origins or GenCon (US) this year (WotC, of course, owns these conventions). Are there any plans to hold tournaments at these cons?? If necessary ('cause I'd rather play in one than run one), I could help out. Keep in mind that they are not DCI sanctioned and do not use all WotC errata. Current errata is on our web page at: http://members.xoom.com/VTES/ If memory serves, LSJ typically runs a tournament at GenCon was well. Obviuosly, I can't confirm his plans for this year. The current plan is to maintain the schedule of events planned by WotC prior to the change: four V:TES tournaments at each convention, one on each day. Currently, I am slated to judge each of those events. Changes to that plan will be announced here as I find out about them. As Noal stated the National Jyhad League will be heading up a few events at GenCon. 1. Michigan Draft: A mix of Sealed Deck and Draft 2. Vampire Team Challenge: Constructed Clan Decks where players team up against other Sects (Camarilla vs. Independent vs. Sabbat). I will have more info up on our website soon, and will post notice as it gets updated. Fortunately my projects at the office will wrap up this weekend and I should have more time to spend on my hobby :-) Bernie [ quoted text not captured ]

>>four V:TES tournaments at each convention, one on each day. Currently, I am slated to judge each of those events.<< Yippee!!! That's more than last year, I know. As I mentioned earlier, I have only played in the Draft events before but am looking forward to trying my hand at constructed. I do hope that the Draft events are run as in the previous years, where all the vampires are drafted first followed by the other cards. I understand, however, from previous discussions that you prefer to draft all at once. [ quoted text not captured ]

Hey, an embarrassment of riches!!! Good news about the NJL. >>Keep in mind that they are not DCI sanctioned and do not use all WotC errata. << DCI sanctioning? Don't care in the least. Errata might be another story, however. I'll have to read up on your errata. [ quoted text not captured ]

At Origins, there will be two DCI constructed V:TES events and two DCI limited events: one V:TES sealed and one Sabbat Booster Draft. At Gen*Con, there will be two DCI constructed V:TES events including the Premiere event designated as the "National Championships", one DCI limited event, a Sabbat Rochester Draft, and (on a lighter note) a non-DCI single-elimination one-on-one ("duel") tournament. DCI draft events will be run according to the DCI rules, of course. http://www.wizards.com/DCI/UTR_Intro.asp -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) VTES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
