Say Margaret Milliner plays Bestow Vigor on Anarch Convert. Can the anarch convert play Diversion, which requires an anarch vampire with either for, tha, or cel? My guess is no because Bestow Vigor states that the vampire with basic fortitude rather than saying that the vampire *has* basic fortitude. I would assume that the same would be true for any card that says "may play cards that require X as a Y" with some third variable (i.e. capacity of N). Grey Thorne is an example of something that is not an anarch vampire that can play certain cards as a vampire. Brandon Bestow Vigor [Action] Action [Fortitude] Fortitude [1 Blood] +1 stealth action. [for] Play on a vampire you control and untap this acting vampire. The minion with this card may play combat cards that require Fortitude as a vampire with basic Fortitude. Burn this card at the end of your next turn. [FOR] As above, but play on an ally you control. Diversion Requires a ready anarch. [cel] Gain one additional strike. [for] Prevent up to 2 damage. [tha] Strike: ranged. Steal 1 blood with an optional maneuver. Grey Thorne [Ally] Ally [2 Blood] Unique ghoul with 2 life. 1 strength, 1 bleed. Requires an anarch. Grey may play cards that require Celerity [cel] or Potence [pot] as an anarch vampire. During your untap phase, if Grey has only 1 life, any ready anarch may burn a blood to add 1 life to him.

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't see why the convert wouldn't be able to play diversion. He IS an anarch. He gains the ability to play cards at inferior fort. So for that turn he is an anarch who can play cards at inferior fort. The reason grey thorn mentions anarch is because he is an ally(and so can't actually be an anarch by game mechanics). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The vampire can play Diversion at for as a vampire with basic Fortitude, since Diversion at for is a card that requires Fortitude. > I would assume that the same would be > true for any card that says "may play cards that require X as a Y" > with some third variable (i.e. capacity of N). I'm not following you, sorry. [ quoted text not captured ]

(i.e. anarch + fortitude = >anarch with fortitude cards) A minion who meets X natively (without special trickery) and who was a special ability allowing him to play a card as if he met Y can play cards requiring X + Y. For example, an anarch vampire with an Inscription+Diversion can use the Diversion. However, you can't use two special abilities together to meet two different requirements on the same card. You play the card with one of the special abilities or the other. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
