OK, folks, here's a question:
Does cancelling an action (as Change of Target does) mean you bring any action
cards you played back into your hand. Example:
I declare that black cat is arming the ivory bow. My opponent plays
cat's guidance using a Vamp with Superior animalism (+1 int) and attempts
to block. I play cloak the gathering from one of my Nosferatu to give
Black cat an additional +1 stealth. My opponent then plays another cat's
guidance, once again giving him the block. I then play change of target.
Which cards (if any) do I get back?
Thanks,
Frank

Small problem here: your opponent could not use two Cat's Guidance
cards in the same attempt to intercept. But that's largely
irrelevant to the question at hand.
>>Which cards (if any) do I get back?
A toughie. My *guess* would be that the Cloak the Gathering and
Cat's Guidance's are burned, but the Ivory Bow would return to your
hand. Why? Change of Target only gets played after an action gets
blocked. Once it's played, the action is treated as if it hadn't
taken place, but the block would still, IMHO, have to have occurred
legitimately in order to be able to play the Change of Target.
Also, of course, the CtG and CW cards have already been replaced.
Probably the easiest to deal with would be to have *all* the cards be
burned, including the Bow. That would be kinda depressing, though.

I'm not sure about the answer to your main question, but I believe that
all of the cards are burned.
However, in your example, Black Cat will successfully equip. Your
opponent cannot play a second Cat's Guidance on the same minion for the
same action. You can only use a particular type of reaction card once
per action. The second intercept would have to come from somewhere else.

If Change of Target is used, any action modifiers and reactions used
previously are still burned, and players don't get them back.
What would happen with an equipment or retainer card is less clear.
Note that people habitually play such that when the vampire takes
an equip/recruit action, the equipment/retainer is immediately replaced,
implying that it's removed from your hand when the action is declared,
so you wouldn't get it back. But it occurs to me that this *might* be
techincally incorrect, and the equipment/retainer is actually in hand
until it's determined whether the action was blocked or not. Unlikely,
but I will find out. Assuming that the equipment/retainer really is
replaced immediately, that would mean it is lost if Change of Target is used.

Umm. Nice try. Your opponent can't use Cat's Guidance twice. Enhanced
Senses or some other card would be necessary...

Only the Ivory Bow (the way we use it), but such must be deferred to TW.

I'm sorry I don't answer your important question about change of target
(because I'm not sure), but you might like to know that only one of
reaction card can be played by a minion during one action, i.e., he could
not have played two cat's guidances.
My guess with change of target it that you get your bow back, but that is
all. You would replace change of target with the bow card. The same would
work for votes and other action cards.
